Jira Pricing 2026: What the October Price Rise Changed
Jira pricing in 2026: free for 10 users, Standard $9.70 and Premium $19.60 per user a month after the 13 October rise, plus annual tiers and usage fees.

Jira Cloud is free for up to 10 users, then costs $9.70 per user a month on Standard and $19.60 on Premium for teams of up to 100 on monthly billing. Annual plans are sold in user tiers: Standard is $950 a year for up to 10 users and $9,700 for up to 100. Enterprise is annual only and quoted through sales.
Those prices took effect on 13 October 2026, when Atlassian raised Jira's cloud list prices. Standard's rate for the first 100 users rose 7.2% from $9.05 a month, and Premium's from $18.30, by Atlassian's own old and new pricing tables. We read those tables and Jira's pricing page on 19 October 2026.
Our take: the rise is modest per seat, but the bigger surprise in Jira's price list is that annual billing, sold as the cheaper option, costs more than monthly billing for many common team sizes. A team of 12, 20, 40 or 80 users pays less month to month.
Toolradar data: Jira is listed as an alternative to 48 other tools on Jira's Toolradar profile, the most of any of the 23 bug tracking tools Toolradar ranks, as of October 2026. Toolradar is the software directory we run. That reach is why a Jira price change ripples through so many tool comparisons.

How much does Jira cost per user?
Monthly billing is progressive: each band of users is charged its own rate, like tax brackets. The first 100 users always cost the top rate, and only the users above each threshold get the lower one.
| Users in the band | Standard, per user a month | Premium, per user a month |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 100 | $9.70 | $19.60 |
| 101 to 250 | $8.20 | $14.65 |
| 251 to 1,000 | $6.85 | $10.20 |
| 1,001 to 2,500 | $6.20 | $9.90 |
| 2,501 to 5,000 | $5.80 | $9.50 |
A 300-user Standard team pays $2,542.50 a month on monthly billing: the first 100 users at the top rate, 150 at $8.20 and 50 at $6.85. The same team on Premium pays $4,667.50 a month. Discounts start only past 100 users, so any team under that size pays the full rate on every seat.
What the 13 October rise changed
Atlassian raised every Jira Cloud band by roughly the same share. On monthly billing, the first-100-user rate rose by 65¢ on Standard and by $1.30 on Premium, while the 101-to-250 band moved from $7.65 to $8.20 on Standard.
Annual prices rose too, but less at the smallest tier. Standard for up to 10 users went from $900 to $950 a year, a 5.6% increase, while Standard for 100 users went from $9,050 to $9,700. Premium for 10 users moved from $1,850 to $1,950.
For a 50-person team on Standard, the rise costs $390 a year on monthly billing (50 users times $0.65 times 12) and $300 a year on the annual plan, which went from $4,550 to $4,850. Atlassian's tables apply the new prices to existing and new subscriptions alike, and note that upgrade pricing depends on what you previously paid. Annual vs monthly: when annual costs more
Jira's annual plans are sold in fixed tiers of 10, 15, 25, 50 and 100 users, and you pay for the whole tier even if you fill only part of it. Monthly billing charges for your exact user count. That makes the "save up to 17%" annual banner true only near the top of each tier.
| Standard team size | Monthly billing for a year | Annual tier price | Cheaper option |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 users | $1,164 | $950 (up to 10) | Annual, by $214 |
| 12 users | $1,396.80 | $1,450 (up to 15) | Monthly, by $53.20 |
| 20 users | $2,328 | $2,450 (up to 25) | Monthly, by $122 |
| 40 users | $4,656 | $4,850 (up to 50) | Monthly, by $194 |
| 80 users | $9,312 | $9,700 (up to 100) | Monthly, by $388 |
| 100 users | $11,640 | $9,700 (up to 100) | Annual, by $1,940 |
The crossover points on Standard, by our arithmetic from Atlassian's list prices: monthly is cheaper at 11 to 12 users, 16 to 21, 26 to 41 and 51 to 83. Annual wins only when your team fills most of its tier, and it also locks the tier for a year, so a team that shrinks pays for empty seats.
The same pattern holds on Premium, where monthly billing costs $235.20 per user a year: a 20-user Premium team pays $4,704 monthly against $4,900 for the 25-user annual tier. Monthly billing is also easier to cancel, since Atlassian refunds monthly plans within the first paid month and annual plans within 30 days of payment.
The new usage meters: automation and Rovo
Seats are no longer the whole Jira bill. Each paid plan includes a monthly allowance of automation steps and Rovo AI credits, and Atlassian's usage-based pricing page says billing for most meters begins on 3 December 2026.
Automation steps beyond the allowance cost $0.50 per 1,000, per Atlassian's automation licensing page. A step is any action, condition, branch or loop in a rule, so a rule with a trigger, one condition and two actions uses four steps each time it runs. A 25-user Standard site gets 400 steps per user; using 20,000 steps more than its allowance in a month would add $10.
Rovo credits work the same way: 25 per user on Standard, 70 on Premium, 150 on Enterprise, pooled across the organization. Atlassian's Rovo licensing page lists pay-as-you-go credits at $0.01 each, while the Jira pricing FAQ says Atlassian is not charging for usage beyond the allowance today and will give at least 90 days' notice and require an opt-in first. Rovo Search uses no credits; Chat and Agents do.
For most teams these meters are small next to seat costs. The risk is a heavy automation setup on a small team, which can burn through a per-user allowance fast. Admins can disable extra usage per meter, which pauses that capability until the allowance resets instead of billing for it.

Is Jira Premium worth double the price?
Premium costs about twice Standard for the first 100 users, so it needs a concrete reason. The main ones are cross-team planning, unlimited storage, a larger automation and Rovo allowance and 24/7 support for critical issues. A single product team rarely needs them; a group of teams sharing one roadmap often does.
The gap narrows with size. Past 250 users, Premium's $10.20 band is about 49% above Standard's $6.85, against about 102% in the first band. Large organizations that need the planning features pay a much smaller premium per extra seat.
How Jira compares with other project tools
Jira is priced above the general-purpose boards for small teams and close to them for large ones. Our project management software pricing compared page lines up seat prices across the category, and the plan-by-plan pages for Trello, Asana, ClickUp, monday.com and Notion cover the alternatives. For a ranked view, see our best project management software list and the agency-focused ranking, read our Wrike review for another tool built for larger teams, or Toolradar's Jira alternatives.
How we checked these prices
Louis Corneloup, founder of Dupple and Toolradar, prepared this breakdown for teams budgeting for Jira. We read the plan cards, FAQ and embedded price list on Jira's pricing page, the old and new prices in Atlassian's future pricing tables, and the meter rules on Atlassian's usage-based pricing, automation and Rovo licensing pages, all on 19 October 2026. Yearly totals for monthly billing, crossover points and scenario costs are our arithmetic from those list prices, before tax, nonprofit discounts and negotiated rates.
FAQ
How much does Jira cost per user in 2026?
Jira Standard costs $9.70 per user a month and Premium $19.60 for the first 100 users on monthly billing, with lower rates for users above 100. The Free plan covers up to 10 users. Annual Standard is sold in user tiers starting at 10 users. Prices were read on Atlassian's pages in October 2026.
Did Jira raise prices in 2026?
Yes. On 13 October 2026 Atlassian raised Jira Cloud list prices: Standard rose 7.2% from $9.05 per user a month for the first 100 users, and Premium from $18.30 to $19.60. Annual Standard for 10 users rose from $900 to $950 a year.
Is Jira free?
Yes, for up to 10 users. The Free plan includes 2 GB of storage, community support and 150 automation steps a month for the site, but no Rovo AI. An eleventh user moves a Free site into a 7-day trial of Standard.
Is annual billing cheaper for Jira?
Only when your team fills most of its annual tier. Annual plans are sold for 10, 15, 25, 50 or 100 users, so on Standard a team of 12, 20, 40 or 80 users pays less on monthly billing. At exactly 10 or 100 users, annual is cheaper.
Does Jira charge for automation and AI usage?
Paid plans include allowances: 400, 750 or 1,000 automation steps per user a month on Standard, Premium and Enterprise. Extra steps cost $0.50 per 1,000, with billing for most meters starting on 3 December 2026. Rovo AI credits have their own allowance, and admins can switch off extra usage.
How much does Jira cost for 50 users?
On Standard, 50 users cost $485 a month on monthly billing or $4,850 a year on the 50-user annual tier. On Premium, the same team pays $980 a month or $9,800 a year. Taxes and any negotiated discount are extra.
