Project Management Software Pricing Compared (2026): ClickUp, Jira, Asana and monday.com for 10 Users

Seven project management tools priced for a 10-person team billed yearly, with October 2026 vendor prices, free-plan limits and hidden fees.

For a 10-person team billed yearly that needs a timeline view, ClickUp's Unlimited plan is the cheapest paid option at $840 a year, or $7 per user per month, checked on ClickUp's pricing page on 10 October 2026. Jira Standard follows at $900 a year, a flat fee for up to 10 users, and monday.com's Standard plan costs the most of the seven at $1,440.

Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, tracks 351 project management tools (subcategories included) as of 10 October 2026, and 46% of them are free, freemium or open source. A free plan is common in this category, so the useful question is what the free tier leaves out. The table answers that for each vendor, and the sections after it show where the ranking changes.

The scenario and the arithmetic

The scenario is a 10-person team that plans projects on a timeline, pays yearly, and wants the cheapest plan that includes a timeline or Gantt view. Several vendors sell their cheapest tier without one, so the ranking uses the cheapest tier that does include it. Each price is the per-user monthly rate billed yearly, multiplied by 10 users and 12 months. ClickUp works out to $7 x 10 x 12 = $840 a year. Jira is the exception, because Atlassian sells Standard in user bands, and the band for up to 10 users is one flat annual fee.

Project management software pricing compared, ranked by cost at the scenario

Tool Entry price Cost at scenario (10 users/year) Free plan (limits) Billing basis Hidden costs
ClickUp (Unlimited) $7/user/mo $840 Unlimited members and tasks, 5 Spaces, 60MB file storage, no Gantt Per user, billed yearly; $10/user/mo billed monthly Gantt and timeline views start on Unlimited; AI tiers are sold separately
Jira (Standard) Flat annual band, up to 10 users $900 Up to 10 users, 2GB storage, community support, timeline view Flat annual band; $9.05/user/mo billed monthly The 11 to 15 user band is $1,350 a year
Smartsheet (Pro) $9/member/mo $1,080 None, 30-day trial only Per member, billed yearly; $12/mo billed monthly Pro covers 1 to 10 members and 250 automations a month
Trello (Premium) $10/user/mo $1,200 10 collaborators and 10 boards per workspace, 10MB per file, no timeline Per user, billed yearly; $12.50/mo billed monthly Timeline view is Premium only; Standard at $5 has none
Wrike (Team) $10/user/mo $1,200 Task, board and table views, no Gantt Per user, billed annually Seats are sold in groups of five up to 30, so 11 users pay for 15
Asana (Starter) $10.99/user/mo $1,318.80 Personal: free for 1 or 2 users, 100MB per file Per user, billed yearly; $13.49/mo billed monthly No seat limits, unlimited automations, unlimited free guests
monday.com (Standard) $12/seat/mo $1,440 Up to 2 seats, 3 boards Per seat, billed yearly 250 automation actions a month; Basic at $9 has no timeline

All prices are in US dollars, read on each vendor's pricing page on 10 October 2026. Cost at scenario is the cheapest paid plan with a timeline or Gantt view, billed yearly, for 10 users.

ClickUp: the lowest price with a Gantt view

ClickUp has the lowest per-user price in the table that still includes a Gantt view, and its Unlimited plan lists no seat cap. At $7 per user billed yearly, the plan comes in $60 under Jira's flat band for 10 people, the next option on price. The Free Forever plan allows unlimited members, so a team can bring in occasional contributors without a bill. The free plan leaves out Gantt charts, though, and caps file storage at 60MB, so a team that needs a timeline pays from the start.

Monthly billing is where the price moves. Paying month to month lifts the Unlimited plan to a higher per-user rate, which is $1,200 a year and 43% more for the same tool.

Jira: a flat fee until the 11th user

Atlassian sells Jira Standard in user bands rather than per seat. For up to 10 users the band is one annual fee, which works out to $7.50 per user per month, and it stays flat across all ten people. The eleventh user moves the team into the 11 to 15 band at $1,350 a year, a $450 jump for one person. Monthly billing is $9.05 per user, or $1,086 a year for 10 users, so the annual band saves $186. Toolradar's own record lists the same $9.05 monthly figure for Jira Standard.

Jira also has the most useful free plan in the group for this scenario. Jira Free covers up to 10 users with 2GB of storage and community support, and it includes a timeline view at $0. Atlassian describes Jira as a tool for planning and tracking software work, so a team with no developers should check its templates before choosing it over the others.

Smartsheet and Wrike bill in blocks

Smartsheet's Pro plan gives 10 people Gantt, table, board and calendar views for a per-member rate billed yearly, or $1,080 a year. The catch is the member count. Pro covers 1 to 10 members, and an 11th person moves the team to Business at $19 per member, which costs $2,508 a year for 11 people. Pro also caps automations at 250 a month. Smartsheet has no free plan, only a 30-day trial that needs no credit card.

Wrike's Team plan bills annually per user, covers 2 to 15 users and includes interactive Gantt charts. At 10 users it matches Trello Premium. Wrike's FAQ says seats are sold in groups of five up to 30, so an 11th user means buying 15 seats, which is $1,800 a year and $480 more than 11 seats would cost. Business, at $25 per user for 5 to 200 users, is the next step, and it costs $3,000 a year at 10 seats.

Trello: the timeline costs more

Trello's free plan fits 10 people, with up to 10 collaborators and 10 boards per workspace, but it has no timeline view. The Standard plan costs $5 per user billed yearly, so $600 a year for 10 people, and it does not include a timeline either. The timeline view sits in Premium, which also adds calendar, dashboard, table and map views. Trello's Enterprise plan is $17.50 per user billed annually, with Atlassian Guard security and admin support.

Asana and monday.com: higher prices for the same timeline

Asana's Starter plan costs $10.99 per user billed yearly, or $1,318.80 for 10 people. That buys timeline and Gantt views, unlimited automations, no seat limits and unlimited free guests, so clients and contractors do not add to the bill. Billed monthly, the same plan rises to $13.49 per user, or $1,618.80 a year. Advanced, at $24.99 per user billed yearly, adds portfolios, goals and resource management, and it comes to $2,998.80 a year at 10 users.

monday.com's Standard plan is the cheapest monday tier whose feature list includes timeline and Gantt views. At $12 per seat billed yearly it costs $1,440 a year for 10 seats. It includes 250 automation actions a month, plus 2,000 AI credits a month. The Basic plan costs $1,080 a year, but its feature list does not include timeline or Gantt views. monday's pricing page also shows a monthly "special offer" that takes a fixed amount off the total each month. We leave it out of the ranking because it is a promotion, not the list price.

Where the ranking flips

On yearly billing, the top spot holds for every team from 1 to 15 users. ClickUp's price rises one seat at a time, while Jira's fee is fixed through 10 users and then jumps to $1,350 at 11. At 11 users the middle of the table reorders. ClickUp stays first at $924, but Trello Premium at $1,320 moves ahead of Jira's $1,350 band. The rest follow at Asana $1,450.68, monday.com $1,584, Wrike $1,800 for its 15 seats, and Smartsheet's Business plan at $2,508.

Billing changes the order too. On monthly billing, Jira's $1,086 for 10 users falls below ClickUp's $1,200, so the two swap places.

If a team does not need a timeline, the order changes completely. Free plans cost $0, and ClickUp, Jira and Trello all fit 10 people on them. Trello's Standard plan at $600 a year is the cheapest paid plan without a timeline, and monday.com's Basic plan is cheaper than its Standard plan but has no timeline view.

Hidden costs to budget for

  • Monthly billing. Every vendor that shows a month-to-month rate charges more for it: ClickUp $1,200 on monthly billing, Jira $1,086 instead of its $900 band, Smartsheet $1,440 instead of $1,080, Trello $1,500 instead of $1,200, and Asana $1,618.80 instead of $1,318.80.
  • Seat blocks and bands. Wrike's five-seat groups add $480 at 11 users. Smartsheet's 10-member cap pushes the 11th person onto a plan that costs $2,508 for 11 people. Jira's band adds $450 at the same point.
  • Automation and AI allowances. Smartsheet Pro includes 250 automations a month. monday.com Standard includes 250 automation actions a month and 2,000 AI credits.
  • Storage limits. ClickUp's free plan has 60MB of file storage, Trello's free plan caps each file at 10MB, Asana's Personal plan caps each file at 100MB, and Jira Free has 2GB in total.

Free plans in this group

ClickUp, Jira and Trello all have free plans that fit 10 people, and only Jira's includes a timeline view. monday.com's free plan and Asana's Personal plan cap at 2 people. Wrike's free plan lists board and table views but no Gantt charts. With 46% of the category offering some free tier, the timeline is the feature the free tiers most often leave out in this scenario.

Methodology

We read every price on the vendor's own pricing page on 10 October 2026, in US dollars, and recorded the billing term each page shows. The seven vendors in the table are the ones whose yearly rate we could read and tie to a vendor page on that day. Basecamp, Notion and Zoho Projects are left out for that reason. Jira's annual price is set in flat user bands, so its figure comes from the annual and monthly USD fee tables behind Atlassian's Jira pricing. The scenario is the same for every vendor: 10 users, billed yearly, with a timeline or Gantt view on the cheapest tier that has one. Toolradar's counts come from its project management ranking, read the same day.
