Asana Pricing 2026: Starter, Advanced and the Real Per-User Cost

Asana Starter costs $10.99 per user a month billed yearly, Advanced $24.99. Seat bundles that bill a 6-person team for 10, AI request limits and team costs.

Asana Pricing 2026: Starter, Advanced and the Real Per-User Cost

Asana costs $10.99 per user a month on Starter billed yearly ($13.49 billed monthly) and $24.99 on Advanced ($30.49 monthly), with Enterprise and Enterprise+ sold on a quote and a free Personal plan for up to 2 users. The catch is the seat count: above 5 users Asana sells seats in bundles of 5, so a 6-person team pays for 10.

Those prices were read on Asana's pricing page on 18 October 2026, along with the seat rules in its FAQ. The per-user rate is the number everyone quotes; the seat bundle is the number that decides your invoice. This page prices both, along with the AI request allowance every paid plan now includes and what happens when a team uses more than that.

Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, tracks 359 project management tools as of 17 October 2026, and the median cheapest paid plan among the 134 that publish a price is $15.50 a month. Asana's yearly Starter sits below that median, and its Toolradar profile shows it listed as an alternative to 129 other tools, the most cross-shopped name in Toolradar's task management category. The full field is on Toolradar's project management ranking.

Every Asana plan at a glance

Plan Per user a month, billed yearly Per user a month, billed monthly AI requests included What the tier adds
Personal Free Free None listed Up to 2 users, unlimited tasks and projects, list, board and calendar views
Starter $10.99 $13.49 5 per user a month, up to 50 per account Timeline and Gantt, dashboards, unlimited automations, forms, unlimited free guests
Advanced $24.99 $30.49 5 per user a month, up to 50 per account Portfolios, goals, resource management, approvals and proofing, native time tracking
Enterprise Contact sales Contact sales 5 per user a month, up to 250 per account SAML SSO, SCIM, capacity planning, view-only licenses
Enterprise+ Contact sales Contact sales Not listed separately SIEM integration, data residency, audit logs

Asana's toggle advertises savings of "up to 18%" on yearly billing. The math holds: the yearly Starter rate is 18.5% below the monthly one and Advanced is 18% below, so a 10-seat Starter team saves $300 a year by paying upfront.

The seat bundles that set your real bill

Asana's FAQ explains how seats are sold, and it is the part of the pricing most explainers skip:

Team size Seats are sold in steps of
2 to 5 users 1
Up to 30 users 5
Up to 100 users 10
Up to 500 users 25
Over 500 users 50

In practice, a paid plan is billed at 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 seats, then 40, 50 and so on. A team of 6 pays for 10 seats; a team of 11 pays for 15. On yearly Starter, that sixth hire doubles the bill from $659.40 a year, and four of those seats sit empty until the team grows into them.

The bundle also changes how you compare Asana with per-seat tools. A per-user price comparison at 10 people is fair, because 10 is a bundle size. At 11 or 12 people it flatters Asana: you pay for 15.

Team Seats billed Starter, yearly Starter, monthly billing (12 months) Advanced, yearly
2 users 2 $263.76 $323.76 $599.76
5 users 5 $659.40 $809.40 $1,499.40
6 users 10 $1,318.80 $1,618.80 $2,998.80
10 users 10 $1,318.80 $1,618.80 $2,998.80
11 users 15 $1,978.20 $2,428.20 $4,498.20
25 users 25 $3,297.00 $4,047.00 $7,497.00
31 users 40 $5,275.20 $6,475.20 $11,995.20

Every total is our arithmetic: the list rate times the seats billed times 12 months, before sales tax, which Asana adds based on your billing address.

What eases the bundle is guests. Starter and Advanced include unlimited free guests, so clients and contractors can work in your projects without taking a seat. A 6-person agency with outside freelancers still buys 10 seats, but the freelancers ride free. View-only licenses for internal stakeholders, though, are an Enterprise feature; on Starter and Advanced, a colleague who only wants to read the timeline needs a seat.

What each plan includes

Personal, for one or two people

Personal is free forever for up to 2 users, with unlimited tasks and projects, list, board and calendar views, unlimited storage at 100 MB per file, status updates and more than 100 integrations. Time tracking works only through integrations. It suits a freelancer and a partner tracking their own work; there is no timeline, no automation and no room for a third person.

Starter, the plan most small teams buy

Starter is where Asana becomes a project tool rather than a to-do list: timeline and Gantt views with dependencies, reporting dashboards, unlimited automations, intake forms, custom templates and custom fields, plus the unlimited free guests. It also removes seat limits.

The unlimited automations matter in comparisons. monday.com caps Standard at 250 automation actions a month, so a team that runs rules on every status change can hit a ceiling there that Asana Starter does not have. For a 5-to-10-person team that plans on a timeline and works with outside contributors, Starter is the default buy.

Advanced, for teams managing several projects at once

Advanced adds unlimited portfolios, goals, resource management within a portfolio, approvals and proofing on PDFs and images, branching forms, native time tracking against estimates, scaled security controls and connectors for Salesforce, Tableau and Power BI.

At more than twice the Starter rate, Advanced has to earn its place. The premium pays off for a team lead juggling five client projects who needs to see who is overloaded, or a marketing team routing creative through approvals. A single team running one project at a time will use little of it. The goals feature overlaps with dedicated tools in our best OKR software guide, which is worth a look before paying the Advanced premium for goals alone.

Enterprise and Enterprise+

Enterprise adds SAML single sign-on, SCIM user provisioning, organization-wide resource management, capacity planning, service accounts, view-only licenses, guest invitation permissions and delegated project admin. Enterprise+ adds SIEM integration, data residency, audit logs and dedicated workspaces. Neither has a public price. Two Enterprise add-ons, compliance management and permissions management, are also quote-only.

How Asana prices AI

Every paid plan now bundles Asana AI, metered in AI requests. An AI request is one completed unit of work by an AI Teammate or by Asana Dash, the assistant that summarizes meetings, email and tasks; administrative Dash tasks are free, and failed or cancelled tasks are not counted.

Plan AI requests included AI Studio credits included
Starter 5 per user a month, up to 50 per account 50K per billing account a month
Advanced 5 per user a month, up to 50 per account 75K per billing account a month
Enterprise 5 per user a month, up to 250 per account 200K per billing account a month

The account cap is the number to watch. On Starter and Advanced, 10 users reach the 50-request ceiling, and a 25-person team gets the same 50 requests as a 10-person one. Beyond the allowance, Asana sells requests at a flat rate: $0.50 each in prepaid usage packs or $0.60 each on demand, billed monthly in arrears with an optional spending cap.

An example of what that means: a team that runs 250 AI requests a month on Starter uses its 50 included, then pays for 200 more, which is $100 a month prepaid or $120 on demand. That alone is close to the Starter seat cost of a 10-person team on yearly billing. On annual contracts, prepaid packs carry over across the term; on monthly plans they expire at month's end.

AI Studio, Asana's no-code AI workflow builder, comes in a Basic tier with rate limits on every paid plan, plus paid Plus and Pro tiers whose prices are not printed on the pricing page. If AI agents are central to how you want to work, our guide to AI for project management covers what to expect from them.

Add-ons and terms that change the bill

  • Timesheets and Budgets is an add-on for Starter, Advanced and Enterprise, for budget tracking and rate cards. Asana does not print its price on the pricing page; you see it at checkout.
  • No refunds. Asana's FAQ says it does not offer refunds. Cancel before renewal and you keep paid features until the period ends, then lose access to them and to the data tied to those features.
  • Sales tax on top. US buyers pay state and local sales tax on the total; buyers abroad may pay VAT or GST.
  • Nonprofit discount on yearly Starter or Advanced plans for eligible organizations, and academic pricing for student groups by request.
  • Team or organization upgrade. You can upgrade a single team instead of the whole organization when only one group needs paid features, which keeps the seat count down.

Asana vs monday.com vs ClickUp on price

Tool Entry plan with a timeline Per user a month, yearly 10 users a year Second tier, per user a month, yearly
Asana Starter $10.99 $1,318.80 Advanced, $24.99
monday.com Standard (3-seat minimum) $12 $1,440 Pro, $19
ClickUp Unlimited $7 $840 Business, $12

monday.com prices come from the US price data on monday.com's pricing page, read on 18 October 2026, and ClickUp's from the default lineup on ClickUp's pricing page, read on 19 October 2026 (some visitors see a test lineup with Core at $9 and Business at $17).

At 10 users, Asana Starter is cheaper than monday.com Standard, with unlimited automations where monday's entry timeline tier meters them. ClickUp's Unlimited rate is lower per user still. At the second tier the order reverses: Advanced costs more per user than both monday Pro and ClickUp Business, so a team that needs portfolios and resource views pays a real premium for Asana.

Asana's bundles widen that gap for odd team sizes. An 11-person team buys 15 Asana seats, so the effective cost of yearly Starter per person rises from the list rate to just under $15 a month, which puts it above monday Standard's per-seat rate. The detailed head to head is in Asana vs monday.com, each rival is priced plan by plan in monday.com pricing and ClickUp pricing, and project management software pricing compared runs the same 10-user test across seven tools.

Which Asana plan should you buy?

Buy Starter on yearly billing if your team has 2 to 5 people or sits exactly on a bundle size (10, 15, 20), plans on a timeline and works with clients or freelancers who can join as free guests. It is one of the better-value entry tiers in the category for that profile.

Move to Advanced when you run several projects in parallel and need portfolios, workload views or approvals; for a single-project team, the premium buys features it will not open. Stay on Personal only for two people.

Look elsewhere if your headcount sits just above a bundle line (6, 11, 16 people), if many internal colleagues only need to view work, or if AI requests will run well past 50 a month. In those cases, a per-seat tool may cost less: our best project management software ranking, the agency ranking, the Asana review and the ClickUp review, Trello review and Wrike review cover the alternatives.

How we checked

Every Asana price, plan feature, AI allowance, seat increment and FAQ term above was read on Asana's pricing page on 18 October 2026, in US dollars. monday.com and ClickUp prices come from their own pricing pages, linked under the comparison table: monday.com read the same day, ClickUp on 19 October 2026. All totals are our arithmetic on list prices (rate times seats billed times 12 months) and exclude tax, nonprofit discounts and quotes. The Toolradar figures come from its live project management category and Asana profile, dated 17 October 2026. We run no test lab and award no star rating.

FAQ

How much does Asana cost per user in 2026?

Asana Starter costs $10.99 per user a month billed yearly or $13.49 billed monthly, and Advanced costs $24.99 billed yearly or $30.49 billed monthly. Enterprise and Enterprise+ are quote-only, and Personal is free for up to 2 users. Prices were read on Asana's pricing page on 18 October 2026.

How much does Asana cost for 10 users?

On yearly billing, 10 users cost $1,318.80 a year on Starter and $2,998.80 on Advanced. On monthly billing, Starter costs $1,618.80 over 12 months. Ten is one of Asana's seat bundle sizes, so a team of 10 pays for exactly what it uses.

Why am I paying for more Asana seats than I have users?

Above 5 users, Asana sells seats in steps of 5 up to 30 users, then steps of 10 up to 100. A 6-person team is billed for 10 seats and an 11-person team for 15. Free guests, such as clients and contractors, do not take a seat.

Is Asana free?

Yes, for up to 2 users. The Personal plan includes unlimited tasks and projects, list, board and calendar views and unlimited storage with a 100 MB file limit. It has no timeline, no automations and no option to add a third user without moving to a paid plan.

Does Asana include AI?

Yes. Starter and Advanced include 5 AI requests per user a month, capped at 50 per account, and Enterprise caps at 250. Extra requests cost $0.50 each in prepaid packs or $0.60 on demand. AI Studio Basic is included on every paid plan.

Does Asana offer refunds or discounts?

Asana does not offer refunds; a cancelled plan keeps its paid features until the end of the period. Yearly billing saves up to 18% against monthly, eligible nonprofits get a discount on yearly Starter or Advanced, and student groups can ask about academic pricing.

Is Asana cheaper than monday.com?

At the entry level, yes: 10 users on Asana Starter cost $121.20 a year less than the $1,440 monday.com Standard charges, both billed yearly, and Asana's automations are unlimited. At the second tier monday.com Pro is cheaper per user than Asana Advanced. Asana's seat bundles can erase its entry-level lead for a team just above a bundle size, such as 11 people billed for 15 seats.
