HubSpot vs Salesforce 2026: Real Cost for a Small Team
HubSpot vs Salesforce in 2026: Starter at $7 a seat on a new-customer offer vs Starter Suite at $25, forecasting at $90 plus onboarding vs $100, and 5-seat costs.

HubSpot is the cheaper CRM for most small teams in 2026, and Salesforce is cheaper only in the first year of a forecasting tier. HubSpot's Starter costs $7 a seat a month on annual billing under a new-customer offer, against $25 for Salesforce Starter Suite. Once you need forecasting, Salesforce Pro Suite at $100 a seat beats HubSpot Professional in year one because HubSpot adds a $1,500 onboarding fee. Prices read on both vendors' pages on 19 October 2026.
Both vendors give a team of two a free CRM, so the real decision starts with the third hire. From there the question is not which product is "better" but which tier your sales process forces you into, and whether you are paying a promotional price that will not last. This page prices that decision for a 5-person team, then shows where it changes.
Toolradar data: across the 169 CRM tools that publish a price on Toolradar's CRM ranking, the median cheapest paid plan is $48 a month, as of 19 October 2026. Both entry plans here sit well under that line, and HubSpot was the most compared CRM on Toolradar over the last 90 days, with 795 side-by-side comparisons.

The tier names line up better here than in most CRM comparisons. Starter faces Starter Suite, and Professional faces Pro Suite, because both pairs are where each vendor puts forecasting. That makes the cost comparison below a fair one.
Is there a free version of HubSpot or Salesforce?
Yes, both, and both stop at two people. HubSpot's free tools cover marketing, sales, service, content and data for up to 2 users with no credit card, with HubSpot branding on 1-to-1 email and live chat, 3 email templates and 3 snippets. Salesforce's Free Suite gives up to two users sales, marketing and service tools with no contract, and it has no expiry as long as someone logs in at least once every 60 days.
The free plans are a tie, so pick on what comes next. A founder who will hire a third person within a year should price the paid tier now, because neither free plan grows with the team. Our best free CRM software list covers tools whose free plan holds more than two users.
Entry tier: HubSpot Starter vs Salesforce Starter Suite
HubSpot wins this round on price, with a caveat on how long the price lasts. HubSpot sells Starter at a list price per seat, and its Starter page shows up to 65% off for new customers, "for a limited time": the annual offer price in the table if you pay upfront, or $10 paying month to month. A new team locking in the annual offer gets the cheapest paid CRM seat on this page. Salesforce Starter Suite shows no promotion and keeps the same price whether billed monthly or annually, so what you see is what renews.
What each entry plan buys differs more than the prices suggest. HubSpot Starter bundles the Starter tier of five hubs, 1,000 marketing contacts and 500 HubSpot Credits for AI features, plus up to 15 pipelines, 50 workflows with restricted triggers and 500 calling minutes. Salesforce Starter Suite covers lead, account, contact and opportunity management, built-in sales flows and lead routing, automatic email and calendar sync, and email marketing with analytics.
One gap matters for an outbound team. HubSpot's sales sequences start on Professional, not Starter, per the feature grid on its pricing page. A team that wants automated follow-up cadences on day one should not count Starter as the real entry price.
Forecasting: HubSpot Professional vs Salesforce Pro Suite
This is where a growing team ends up, and the round is split by time. Salesforce lists "Sales Quoting and Forecasting" on Pro Suite, billed annually under a contract, so the commitment is a full year from the first seat. HubSpot reserves forecasting, sequences, lead scoring and call transcription for Sales Hub Professional, at $90 a seat on annual billing, plus a required one-time Professional Onboarding fee.
Our arithmetic for year one: the onboarding fee makes HubSpot dearer than Pro Suite for any team below 13 seats. Each HubSpot seat saves $120 a year against Pro Suite, and twelve seats save $1,440, less than the fee. From year two, with no fee, HubSpot Professional is the cheaper tier at every team size.
The two tiers do not include the same things. HubSpot Professional carries up to 300 workflows, up to 100 pipelines, 3,000 HubSpot Credits and 3,000 calling minutes. Salesforce Pro Suite adds greater customization and automation and access to its AgentExchange marketplace, but the Web Services API is an extra $25 a user a month on that suite, and Premier Support is also an add-on.
What does each CRM cost a 5-person team?
| Scenario (5 seats) | HubSpot | Salesforce |
|---|---|---|
| Entry tier, annual billing, year one | $420 at the new-customer offer | $1,500 (Starter Suite) |
| Entry tier, at HubSpot's $20 list price | $1,200 | Same Starter Suite bill |
| Forecasting tier, year one | $6,900 (Professional, with onboarding) | $6,000 (Pro Suite) |
| Forecasting tier, year two | $5,400 | $6,000 |
| Forecasting tier, two years | $12,300 | $12,000 |
Techpresso data: we built this table on 19 October 2026 by multiplying each printed per-seat price by 5 seats and 12 months, and adding HubSpot's one-time onboarding fee to year one. Taxes, add-ons such as Salesforce's API access, credits top-ups and negotiated discounts are excluded.
Read the rows together. At the entry tier, HubSpot is cheaper even at its full list price. At the forecasting tier, Salesforce wins year one by $900 and HubSpot wins year two by $600, so over two years the gap is $300 in Salesforce's favour at 5 seats. That narrow edge flips at 7 seats, where two years of HubSpot Professional cost less, and a Pro Suite team that buys the API add-on pays $3,000 more over the same two years.
Which CRM fits a small team's workflow?
HubSpot fits a team whose marketing and sales share one contact list. Its CRM sits under Marketing, Service, Content and Data hubs, and Starter already bundles all five at the entry tier, so forms, email campaigns and deals live on one record. Our HubSpot CRM review covers what the free and Starter tiers do well, and the HubSpot pricing breakdown prices Marketing Hub and its contact tiers.
Salesforce fits a team that expects to customize its process. Pro Suite opens greater customization, more automation and the AgentExchange marketplace, and the path above it runs through Core at $195 to Max at $550, with conversation intelligence, opportunity scoring and Agentforce options on the way. The Salesforce pricing breakdown lists those editions and their add-ons, and our note on Salesforce's CRM reasoning model covers where its AI is heading.
The steelman for Salesforce is scale: a team that plans to grow past 20 reps with territories and approval chains may prefer to start on the platform it will end on. The steelman for HubSpot is simplicity: most 5-person teams never build a custom object, and they pay for that headroom from the first invoice.
Who should pick which
Pick HubSpot if you qualify as a new customer and can take the annual Starter offer, if marketing will run from the same database, or if you expect to stay on Professional for more than a year. Budget the list price for renewals, since HubSpot calls the discount limited time, and remember sequences need Professional.
Pick Salesforce if you need forecasting in the first year, have fewer than 13 seats, and do not need API access, or if you want room to customize the process from the start. Starter Suite is also the only Salesforce paid plan you can pay month to month, which suits a team testing whether it will use a CRM at all.
Pick neither if your team lives in a sales pipeline and wants forecasting without a platform price. Our HubSpot vs Pipedrive comparison, the best CRM for small business ranking and the cheapest CRM software list price those alternatives on the same basis. Toolradar also keeps a feature-level HubSpot vs Salesforce comparison.

Salesforce weaknesses: Starter Suite costs more than HubSpot's list price; Pro Suite requires an annual contract; API access and Premier Support are add-ons on Pro Suite.
How we checked
HubSpot prices and tier contents come from HubSpot's Sales Hub pricing page, its CRM pricing page and its Starter offer page. Salesforce prices come from its Sales Cloud pricing page, small business pricing page and Free CRM page. All were read on 19 October 2026 in US dollars, and Toolradar's records for HubSpot and Salesforce supply the category figures.
Totals are list or published offer prices multiplied by seats and months, not quotes. Salesforce notes that its pricing page is for information and subject to change, and both vendors negotiate on larger contracts, so re-read the pages before you sign. FAQ
Is HubSpot cheaper than Salesforce?
At the entry tier, yes: HubSpot Starter is $20 a seat at list price and $7 on the annual new-customer offer, while Salesforce Starter Suite costs more per user on either billing option. At the forecasting tier, Salesforce Pro Suite is cheaper in year one for teams under 13 seats because HubSpot Professional adds a one-time onboarding fee; from year two HubSpot Professional is cheaper.
How much does Salesforce cost for a small business in 2026?
Free Suite costs nothing for up to two users. Starter Suite is $25 a user a month, billed monthly or annually, and Pro Suite is $100 a user a month on an annual contract. For 5 users on annual billing, Pro Suite comes to $6,000 a year before add-ons such as API access, about four times the Starter Suite bill.
How much does HubSpot cost for a small team in 2026?
HubSpot is free for up to 2 users. Starter lists at $20 a seat a month, with a limited-time new-customer price of $7 on annual billing or $10 monthly. Sales Hub Professional is $90 a seat on annual billing plus a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee, and Enterprise is $150 a seat plus $3,500.
Which is better for forecasting?
Both put forecasting on their second paid tier: Salesforce on Pro Suite, HubSpot on Sales Hub Professional. Salesforce gets you there for less in year one at small team sizes because it charges no onboarding fee, while HubSpot Professional adds sequences, call transcription and lead scoring in the same tier.
Does HubSpot Starter include sequences?
No. HubSpot's feature grid lists sequences on Sales Hub Professional and Enterprise, with up to 500 email sends per user a day on Professional. Starter includes email templates, snippets, 50 workflows and calling, so a team that needs automated follow-up cadences should price Professional.
Can I switch from HubSpot to Salesforce later?
Yes, and the free plans make it low risk to start on either. The cost of switching is the setup you rebuild, not a fee on the pricing pages. Teams that expect heavy customization and territories within a year often start on Salesforce, while teams that run marketing from the CRM tend to stay on HubSpot.
