Salesforce Unveils Koa CRM Reasoning Model

At Dreamforce, Salesforce and Nvidia described Koa, a CRM reasoning model built on open-weight Nemotron and offered inside Agentforce. Salesforce says Koa matches or beats leading general-purpose models on CRM tasks with three times fewer errors. It is in expanded pilot now, with general availability slated for winter.

Salesforce Unveils Koa CRM Reasoning Model

Salesforce and Nvidia jointly described Koa at Dreamforce this week, Julie Bort reported for TechCrunch on 15 September 2026. Koa is Salesforce's first reasoning model. It is built on Nvidia's open-weight Nemotron and post-trained for sales, marketing, and customer-support work.

This is a Dreamforce product announcement covered by trade press. It is not an independent benchmark paper, and it is not a general-availability release notice.

Koa sits inside Agentforce as another routing choice. Until now, long-running or multistep reasoning went out through the Agentforce AI gateway to frontier models such as Claude or ChatGPT. Jayesh Govindarajan, Salesforce's EVP of AI, told TechCrunch the company had relied on those frontier providers for reasoning, and chose Nemotron as a sovereign American state-of-the-art base with clear data provenance, which he contrasted with unknowns around what Qwen trains on.

Salesforce says no customer CRM data went into training. The companies used synthetic data that simulates customer patterns. SiliconANGLE (Mike Wheatley, 15 September 2026) adds that the synthetic set covers 14 industries, including healthcare, finance, and manufacturing, and that Rohan Kumar pointed to about 27 years of internal CRM deployment knowledge.

On Salesforce's own CRM-task scores, the company claims Koa matches or exceeds leading general-purpose models with three times fewer errors. That figure is Salesforce's benchmark, not a third-party audit. SiliconANGLE says training combined supervised fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, and group relative policy optimization for multistep tool calls. Inference is hosted inside Salesforce trust boundaries through Nvidia's open framework, so Salesforce says customer data need not leave the controlled environment.

Koa is not generally available. It is in an expanded Agentforce pilot, and Kumar told SiliconANGLE general availability is slated for winter. Early pilot colour includes Ryan Teeples of 1-800Accountant. Salesforce also just announced Claudeforce with Anthropic, so Koa is a CRM routing option, not a replacement for OpenAI or Anthropic across the stack.

Related AI and platform tape includes Nvidia buying Hugging Face for $12.9 billion, the AI labs joint standards body, and Techpresso's CRM software shortlist.

Agentforce admins routing multistep CRM work should compare Koa pilots against current Claude or ChatGPT gateway routing on their own workflows before changing model defaults.
