Zapier Review 2026: Pricing, Free Plan Limits, Pros and Cons
What Zapier's task-based plans cost, what the free plan really allows, where the bill grows, and which alternatives to price against it.
Zapier is worth paying for when you need its app library and multi-step workflows, but you pay per task, so price your monthly volume before you choose a tier. The free plan includes 100 tasks a month, Professional starts at $19.99 a month billed yearly for 750 tasks, and Team starts at $69 a month billed yearly for 2,000 tasks. Make, n8n and Activepieces are the first alternatives to price against it, because they count work in different units.
The biggest strength is breadth: Zapier connects more than 9,000 apps without code. The biggest catch is that every step in a Zap and every connector call uses a task, so the bill grows faster than the number of workflows you think you run. Budget from task volume, not from the plan name.
Key factsBest for: Teams that need a bigger connector library than most…
- A connector library bigger than most rivals, priced per task so your volume decides the bill.
- Connected apps: More than 9,000 (vendor count)
- Free plan: 100 tasks a month, free forever
- Yearly discount: 33% against monthly billing
- Paid plan entry: Professional, from 750 tasks a month
Pros
- Connects more than 9,000 apps, with no code needed for most connections
- Free plan keeps unlimited Zaps, Tables and Forms, with 100 tasks a month
- Professional trial runs 14 days with no credit card required
Cons
- Every step in a Zap and every connector call uses a task, so cost grows quickly
- Free plan polls every 15 minutes and allows only two-step Zaps
- Live chat support is listed from the 5,000-task Professional plan, not the 750-task tier
ZapierZapier is the tool most people mean when they say no-code automation. It starts a workflow when something happens, such as a form submission, a new CRM contact or a Slack message, and then moves the data into other apps.
Its connector library is larger than most rivals, and that breadth explains its price: the platform is priced by work done, which is harder to predict than a flat seat fee.
This review covers the free plan, each paid tier, the overage rules, and the trade-offs against four alternatives.
It is written for operators and small teams who will build the workflows themselves.
The question that decides the tier is how many tasks you will run each month. Toolradar data: of the 1,016 workflow automation tools we evaluated, 58 of the 200 ranked on our category page (29%) have a free plan, so a free plan is a minority feature in this category, and Zapier's 100-task tier is one of them.
What is Zapier?
Zapier is a no-code automation platform built around Zaps, workflows that start with a trigger in one app and run actions in others. Around the Zaps it now sells Tables for storing data, Forms for collecting inputs, Zapier Agents and Chatbots for AI assistants, and Zapier MCP, which lets AI assistants take actions across connected apps.
If you already run a no-code app builder, Zapier is the layer that moves data between it and the rest of your stack.
The product sits in a crowded market, but it is the default for teams that want the most pre-built connections.
Our MindStudio review covers a neighbouring category, so check which problem you are solving before you compare prices.
How Zapier works
You build a Zap by choosing a trigger app and event, then adding actions, filters and formatters. A simple two-step Zap takes minutes. A multi-step workflow with branches takes longer, and you should test it with real records before you switch it on.
Free plans check for new data every 15 minutes, Professional every 2 minutes and Team every minute, so faster triggers come with paid plans.
The honest rough edge is the cost of each step. The pricing page says every step in a Zap and every external connector call uses tasks, and that AI steps, code and MCP calls draw from the same task pool.
A workflow that looks like one automation can therefore spend a task on each action step, every run. If your intake runs through a form builder, each submission can start a Zap, so the count rises with every lead.

Zapier key features
Zapier pricing
Zapier sells four plans. Free is $0 forever with 100 tasks a month. Professional starts at the 750-task price, billed yearly, and Team starts at $69 a month billed yearly for 2,000 tasks, and Enterprise is quote-only. Yearly billing saves 33% against monthly billing, so Professional on monthly billing is $29.99 a month.
Paid tiers start at 750 tasks a month, and the higher the tier, the lower the cost per task.
At realistic volumes, annual billing works out to Professional at 1,500 tasks for $39 a month, 5,000 tasks for $89 and 20,000 tasks for $189.
Team at 5,000 tasks is $119 a month and at 20,000 tasks is $249.
Overage works as pay-per-task billing once you pass your plan's limit, and it is capped at three times the task limit.
A Professional 750 plan therefore tops out at 2,250 tasks a month.
Methodology: prices are read on Zapier's pricing page on October 10, 2026, with the monthly and yearly figures checked against each other.
The overage cap comes from Zapier's pay-per-task help article, verified October 2026.

Zapier pros and cons
What we like
- Connects more than 9,000 apps, with no code needed for most connections
- Free plan keeps unlimited Zaps, Tables and Forms, with 100 tasks a month
- Professional trial runs 14 days with no credit card required
What could be better
- Every step in a Zap and every connector call uses a task, so cost grows quickly
- Free plan polls every 15 minutes and allows only two-step Zaps
- Live chat support is listed from the 5,000-task Professional plan, not the 750-task tier
Who Zapier is for
Zapier fits operators who already run several business tools together, such as a form, a CRM, a spreadsheet and Slack, and want them connected without writing code. It also suits teams that want an AI assistant to act across those apps, since AI steps and MCP calls inside Zaps draw on the same task pool.
Teams that connect an Airtable base, a Pipedrive pipeline and a help desk get the most from the connectors.
It is the wrong choice for a developer who wants an automation on their own server, which is where self-hosted agent builders and n8n start to look better.
It is also the wrong choice for a team that runs thousands of multi-step records a day without a task budget. A solo user running a handful of two-step Zaps can stay on the free tier, while a heavier team should compare the credit pricing of the alternatives before committing.
Best Zapier alternatives
If Zapier is not the right fit, these are the closest options.
| Tool | Best for | Starts at | |

| Zapier | Teams that need a bigger connector library than most rivals, plus multi-step workflows | From $19.99/mo (Professional, billed yearly) | Visit → |
| Make | Teams that want a free plan with no time limit and a credit-based price | From $12/mo for 10,000 credits (Core) | Visit → |
| n8n | Developers and teams that want to self-host and keep control of their data | Community Edition free to self-host | Visit → |
| Activepieces | Small teams that want a flat monthly price and an open-source option | Plus $20/mo flat with 10,000 credits | Visit → |
| Power Automate | Teams that want per-user pricing from Microsoft | Premium $15 per user a month, billed yearly | Visit → |
The bottom line
Zapier is worth it for teams that need its connector library and multi-step workflows, and not worth it for a handful of simple two-step automations. Start on the free plan, count your real monthly tasks for a week, then pick the Professional or Team size that covers them.
At 5,000 tasks a month, Professional costs $89 billed yearly, which is good value for the breadth and expensive if most of your Zaps have one or two steps.
Skip it if you want self-hosting, where n8n's free Community Edition wins, or if you run very high volume on a tight budget.
Make and Activepieces count work in credits, so test your real workflows on their free plans before you choose.
