Tally Review 2026: Free Form Builder, Pro Pricing, Limits
What Tally's free plan really covers, what Pro adds, where the fair use limits sit, and which rival to pick when Tally is the wrong fit.
Tally is worth it in 2026 for almost anyone who needs forms on a budget, because its free plan includes unlimited forms and submissions, payments, signatures, file uploads and conditional logic, features most rivals hold back for paid tiers. Pro costs $29 a month or $290 a year and is mainly for removing Tally branding, adding custom domains and inviting your team.
The real limits are softer than a paywall: free file uploads cap at 10 MB each, and a fair use policy flags accounts that keep collecting around 50,000 submissions a month. Pick Typeform instead when the form is a brand showpiece, or Jotform when you need many active forms with large upload storage.

Form builders usually make money by capping responses. Tally does the opposite: it gives away unlimited forms and submissions and charges for branding, collaboration and analytics instead. That one decision is why it shows up in every "Typeform alternative" conversation, and why the honest question about Tally is not whether the free plan is good but when you will ever need to pay.
This review answers that with numbers read on Tally's own pages in October 2026: what each plan includes, where the soft limits are, and what a team collecting 3,000 responses a month without vendor branding pays on Tally and four rivals. Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, evaluated 84 form builders for its form builder ranking, updated 17 October 2026, and lists Tally (Toolradar profile) as the best minimal alternative to Typeform.
What is Tally?
Tally is a form builder from a Belgium-based company, built around a blank-page editor where questions, file uploads, payment fields and signatures are added as blocks. Forms, submissions and most logic features are free, within a fair use policy, and form data is stored in Europe under GDPR.
Out of the box it connects to Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Zapier, Make and webhooks, so responses land where a small team already works. Tally also publishes an MCP server for connecting its forms to AI tools. If you are comparing it with survey platforms rather than form builders, our best survey software guide covers that side.
How Tally works
Building a form starts on a blank page, where you add blocks such as short answer, number, multiple choice, file upload, payment and signature. Conditional logic, calculations and answer piping sit in the same editor, and the free plan lets you redirect on completion, password-protect a form and close it on a date or a response limit.
Responses arrive in Tally's own table and can be pushed to Sheets, Notion or Airtable as they come in, which is how most small teams use it: the form is the front door and the database lives elsewhere. If your stack runs on Notion, our Notion review covers the other half of that setup, and our Zapier review covers the automation layer.
Tally key features
Tally pricing
Tally has three tiers: Free, Pro and Business. Prices checked on vendor pages in October 2026: Pro is billed monthly or yearly with two months free on the yearly plan, according to Tally's Pro plan page, read in October 2026. Business adds data retention controls, email verification and 90 days of version history; check the current Business price on Tally's pricing page.
Our cost model for a team collecting 3,000 responses a month with vendor branding removed, on yearly billing: Tally Pro $290 a year, Fillout Pro $480 a year (5,000 responses a month), Typeform Business $1,092 a year (Plus stops at 1,000 responses), and Jotform Gold $1,188 a year (Silver stops at 2,500 submissions). Rival prices were read the same week on Fillout, Typeform, Jotform and Paperform. These totals are our arithmetic on list prices, not quotes.

Tally pros and cons

- Unlimited forms and submissions on Free, within a fair use policy
- Payments, signatures, file uploads, conditional logic and calculations are all free features
- Pro is the cheapest way on this page to remove vendor branding at 3,000 responses a month
What could be better
- Free file uploads are capped at 10 MB per file, and respondent email notifications need Pro
- Business extras (data retention controls, email verification, longer version history) are thin for most buyers
Who Tally is for
Tally fits founders, creators and small teams who want serious forms without a response cap. A waitlist, a lead form, a job application with file uploads or an order form that takes payments all run on the free plan. Pro earns its yearly fee when the form is customer-facing and the Tally badge or a tally.so link looks wrong, or when several people need to edit forms in shared workspaces.
Skip it if your forms are the brand experience itself, where Typeform's interactive design is the point, or if you need 100 active forms with 100 GB of upload storage, which is what Jotform Gold sells. Teams that need survey analytics rather than form collection should start with our SurveyMonkey review or the best free survey tools list.
Best Tally alternatives
If Tally is not the right fit, these are the closest options.
| Tool | Best for | Starts at | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tally | Founders and small teams who want unlimited forms, payments and logic without paying | Free with unlimited forms and submissions | Visit → |
| Typeform | Brands that want polished, interactive forms and accept a monthly response cap | Basic $28/mo billed yearly ($39 monthly), 100 responses/mo | Visit → |
| Jotform | Teams that need many active forms, generous upload storage and a nonprofit discount | Free Starter (5 forms, 100 submissions/mo) | Visit → |
| Fillout | Teams that want a Tally-style free plan with unlimited seats and a cheap step to more responses | Free (1,000 responses/mo) | Visit → |
| Paperform | Teams that want forms, e-signatures and workflow automations from one vendor | Free (30 submissions/mo) | Visit → |
The bottom line
Tally is worth it at $0 for most small teams, and worth the Pro fee once branding or teamwork matters. No rival here gives away unlimited submissions with payments, signatures and logic, and none removes vendor branding at 3,000 responses a month for less. The trade-offs are small: a 10 MB per-file limit on Free, respondent emails only on Pro, and a Business tier whose extras are hard to justify for most buyers.
Pick Typeform when the form is part of the brand, Jotform when you need its template depth and storage, Fillout when you want unlimited seats on a free plan, and Paperform when signatures and workflows belong in the same tool. Our best form builders ranking and the Typeform vs Jotform comparison go deeper on the paid side, and Toolradar profiles for Typeform and Jotform track their plans.
Methodology: we read Tally's pricing, Pro and fair use pages and four rivals' pricing pages in October 2026, and costed one usage scenario on list prices.
