Freshdesk Review 2026: Pricing, Pros, Cons and Alternatives
What each Freshdesk plan includes, what ten agents really pay once AI add-ons are counted, and which help desk to pick instead.
Freshdesk is worth it for small and mid-size support teams that want a full ticketing desk at an entry price of $19 per agent per month, billed annually. The real bill depends on the tier: Pro is $55 and Enterprise $89 per agent, and Freddy AI Copilot adds $29 per agent on top.
There is no free plan any more, only a 14-day trial of Enterprise features. Pick Freshdesk for depth per dollar; pick Help Scout if you want a lighter inbox, or Intercom if an AI agent is the priority.
Key factsBest for: Growing support teams that want full ticketing, SLAs and AI…
- A full omnichannel help desk with Freddy AI built in, cheaper per seat than Zendesk's upper tiers.
- Free plan: No, 14-day trial instead
- AI Agent sessions included: First 500
- Listed as an alternative to: 83 tools on Toolradar (Oct 2026)
- Alternatives covered: Zendesk, Help Scout, Intercom, HubSpot Service Hub, Gorgias
Pros
- The entry Growth seat already includes the portal, knowledge base and 500 AI Agent sessions
- Pro adds multiple SLA policies, custom dashboards and 5,000 external collaborators
- Day passes from $2 cover part-time agents without a full seat
Cons
- Freddy AI Copilot is a separate per-agent charge on top of the plan
- No free plan, so small teams pay from the first agent
- Skill-based routing and audit logs need the top Enterprise tier

Freshdesk sells the most help desk per dollar among the big names, and the entry price is the headline. The catch sits one level down: the features most teams outgrow Growth for, such as multiple SLA policies, custom dashboards and intelligent routing, start on Pro, nearly three times the entry seat.
Toolradar data: as of October 2026, Freshdesk is listed as an alternative to 83 other tools in the directory we run, second of 28 help desk tools behind Zendesk at 103. Buyers cross-shop the two constantly, so this review prices Freshdesk against Zendesk and four other rivals rather than in isolation.
This review covers what each plan unlocks, the add-ons that move the invoice, and a cost model for a ten-agent team. It is based on Freshworks' own pricing and product pages, read on 17 October 2026, not on hands-on testing.
What is Freshdesk?
Freshdesk is customer service software from Freshworks that turns email, chat and messaging conversations into tickets a team can assign, prioritize and track. It covers WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Line, Microsoft Teams, Slack and email in one queue, with a customer portal and knowledge base included on every paid plan.
On top of the ticketing core sit the Freddy AI products. Freddy AI Agent answers customers on its own, with the first 500 sessions included. Freddy AI Copilot helps human agents prioritize work and draft replies, which matters most on busy queues. Freddy AI Insights, on Enterprise, flags trends and root causes in support data.
How Freshdesk works
A new account starts with a 14-day trial that opens Enterprise features, so the team sees everything before choosing a tier. Admins connect a support email and the messaging channels, set up automations, and publish knowledge base articles to the portal.
Tickets then flow into a shared inbox where agents use threads and tasks to pull in colleagues. Pro adds intelligent routing and multiple SLA policies, which is where a growing team usually lands once one queue becomes three. Enterprise adds skill-based routing, a sandbox for testing changes, and audit logs for regulated teams.
Freshdesk also connects to Salesforce, HubSpot, Shopify, Stripe and Jira, including through MCP actions that let AI tools act on those systems. Each plan includes a yearly MCP allowance, with extra packs at $15 per 1,000 actions.

Freshdesk pricing
Freshdesk prices were checked on the Freshdesk pricing page on 17 October 2026. Paid plans are billed per agent per month at the annual rates in the table below, with the page advertising 20% savings for paying annually. Freddy AI Copilot is sold per agent on Pro and Enterprise. Extra AI Agent sessions are $49 per 100, and day passes for occasional agents cost $2, $7 or $12 depending on the plan.
For ten agents billed annually, Growth comes to $2,280 a year and Pro to $6,600. Adding Copilot to every Pro seat lifts the bill to $10,080, and Enterprise with Copilot reaches $14,160. A team that needs 1,000 AI Agent sessions beyond the included 500 adds $490.
Rival prices were read on their own pages the same day. Help Scout Plus is $37.80 per user on annual billing, while Intercom Advanced is $85 per seat plus $0.99 per Fin outcome. HubSpot Service Hub Professional is $90 per seat with a $1,500 onboarding fee. Gorgias prices by ticket volume instead of seats.

Who Freshdesk is for
Freshdesk fits support teams of roughly 3 to 50 agents that want structured ticketing, SLAs and reporting without Zendesk-level spend. SaaS companies, ecommerce brands with a separate support desk, and IT-adjacent service teams get the most from Pro, where routing and multiple SLAs arrive.
It is a weaker fit for two groups. Teams of two or three people who want a friendly shared inbox will find Help Scout simpler, and its free plan covers a pilot that Freshdesk no longer offers. Shopify-first stores handling order questions usually do better on Gorgias, which bills by ticket rather than by agent.
Best Freshdesk alternatives
If Freshdesk is not the right fit, these are the closest options.

The bottom line
Freshdesk is worth it in 2026 for teams that want Zendesk-style structure at a lower seat price, and the value is strongest on Pro, where routing and multiple SLAs live. Budget for the AI add-ons before signing: Copilot on every seat raises the Pro bill by more than half, so give it only to agents who handle complex tickets.
Choose Help Scout for a small team that wants a free start, and Intercom if an AI agent should carry most of the volume. HubSpot Service Hub makes sense when the CRM already runs on HubSpot, and Gorgias suits a Shopify store.
