TL;DR

Short answer: Splashtop Solo is $6 a month billed annually ($72 a year) for one person's own computers. Zoho Assist unattended Standard is $10 a month billed annually per 25 computers, and technicians are not extra seats. TeamViewer Business is $50.90 a month billed yearly for one licensed user.

Key facts8 tools compared: Splashtop, Zoho Assist, ScreenConnect, AnyDesk, TeamViewer, RustDesk…
  • Updated: October 18, 2026
  • Top pick: Splashtop (best for: One person or a small team reaching their own computers, not a help desk)
  • Top pick price as of October 18, 2026: Splashtop: From $6/mo billed annually ($72/yr). Pro is $8.25/user/mo ($99/yr).
  • 8 tools compared: Splashtop, Zoho Assist, ScreenConnect, AnyDesk, TeamViewer, RustDesk, Parsec, Chrome Remote Desktop
  • Zoho Assist (best for: IT teams that want computers on the invoice, not a seat for every technician): From $10/mo billed annually per 25 computers on unattended Standard.
  • ScreenConnect (best for: A help desk that should pay for technicians connected at the same time): One is $30/mo billed annually. Standard is $47/mo per concurrent tech, billed annually.
  • AnyDesk (best for: A business that wants a fixed device pool and will pay the whole year up front): Solo is €28.90/mo billed annually. Standard is €49.90/mo for one connection.

Most teams pick a remote desktop tool by the logo on the install file, then find out the invoice counts a unit they do not have. A person, a pack of computers, and a technician connected at the same time as a colleague are three different bills for the same Tuesday afternoon. Picking the wrong meter is what makes a small team look expensive.

Techpresso data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, lists 1,864 productivity tools and ranks 7 of them in its remote desktop guide, as of October 2026. The eight tools below are judged on the bill for a three-person team, so that guide's order is not the ranking here.

1 Splashtop logo
Top Pick

Splashtop

The lowest published per-user rate here for your own machines, with a separate support product if you help other people.

Pricing
From $6/mo billed annually ($72/yr). Pro is $8.25/user/mo ($99/yr).

Best for: One person or a small team reaching their own computers, not a help desk

Pros

  • Solo is an individual plan with unattended access, file transfer, and remote print.
  • Pro adds a second monitor, user roles, chat, session recording, and up to 3 users in one computer.
  • Performance adds 4:4:4 color, 240 fps, high-fidelity audio, and USB passthrough.

Cons

  • Solo and Pro publish no computer cap, so a fleet buyer cannot see the device ceiling.
  • SOS, the support license, starts at $22 a month per concurrent technician and is a different product from Pro.
2 Zoho Assist logo

Zoho Assist

Attended support bills the technician, unattended access bills each pack of computers, and technicians are unlimited on that second product.

Pricing
From $10/mo billed annually per 25 computers on unattended Standard.

Best for: IT teams that want computers on the invoice, not a seat for every technician

Pros

  • A free plan exists, and the pricing page offers a 15-day trial with no credit card.
  • Remote support Professional allows 4 concurrent sessions per technician and adds mobile devices, scheduling, and rebranding.
  • Unattended Professional adds session recording, remote print, and remote script execution on top of the Standard computer pack.

Cons

  • Buying both attended support and unattended access means two meters, not one subscription.
  • A Corporate plan is listed separately for 50 technicians, 2 concurrent sessions, and 1,000 managed devices, not the computer pack.
3 ScreenConnect logo

ScreenConnect

Pay for technicians who are connected together, and get unlimited unattended agents after the single-license plan.

Pricing
One is $30/mo billed annually. Standard is $47/mo per concurrent tech, billed annually.

Best for: A help desk that should pay for technicians connected at the same time

Pros

  • Standard and Premium include unlimited unattended agents, unlike One's cap of 10.
  • Standard includes wake-on-LAN, a remote command line, session recording, and VoIP.
  • A 14-day trial is offered on ScreenConnect's trial page.

Cons

  • One is limited to a single license, 1 session, and 10 unattended agents, and it is sold annually only, so it is not a team plan.
  • Monthly billing is higher than the annual rate, and Standard on that month-to-month bill is $62 per concurrent technician.
4 AnyDesk logo

AnyDesk

Annual licenses only, a first-year discount, and a connection count that stays put unless you buy add-ons.

Pricing
Solo is €28.90/mo billed annually. Standard is €49.90/mo for one connection.

Best for: A business that wants a fixed device pool and will pay the whole year up front

Pros

  • Solo includes 1 licensed user, 1 connection, 3 devices to connect from, and 100 managed devices.
  • Standard starts at 500 managed devices and up to 20 users, with user management and a custom-branded app.
  • Advanced starts at 2 connections, up to 100 users, 1,000 managed devices, MSI deployment, and phone support.

Cons

  • A 20% discount on the pricing page applies to the first subscription year only, so the renewal costs more.
  • Standard includes 1 connection, and extra connections are €44.90 each per month, billed annually, up to 20.
5 TeamViewer logo

TeamViewer

One user and a large device pool on Business, then a much larger bill the moment you add people.

Pricing
Business is $50.90/mo billed yearly for 1 user. Premium is $120.90/mo.

Best for: A large unattended pool where one licensed user is enough, until a second person needs in

Pros

  • Business covers up to 200 unattended devices for a single licensed user.
  • Premium includes 15 licensed users, 1 channel, up to 10 sessions on that channel, and 300 managed devices.
  • Corporate includes 30 licensed users, 3 channels, and 500 managed devices, and the pricing cards offer a 30-day trial.

Cons

  • Remote Access stops at 3 unattended devices and one licensed user, and buyers should check the current price on TeamViewer's site.
  • Subscriptions renew every 12 months unless you cancel at least 28 days before the term ends.
6 RustDesk logo

RustDesk

No license fee if you host it, or a Pro server license you pay once a year.

Pricing
Free to self-host. Individual is $11.88/mo billed annually for 1 user and 20 devices.

Best for: Teams that will run the server and want a published license instead of a sales quote

Pros

  • The free plan is a self-hosted server with no license fee.
  • Basic is 10 login users and 100 managed devices, and it includes everything in Individual.
  • Paid plans include customer support, and renewal is manual: RustDesk emails 14 days before expiry and does not auto-renew.

Cons

  • You operate the server, including uptime and updates, which the hosted tools in this list do for you, so the license fee is not the whole cost.
  • There is no monthly payment, because every paid plan is annual.
7 Parsec logo

Parsec

A personal tier at no charge, then per-user plans for color, pen tablets, and team admin.

Pricing
Personal is free. Warp is $8.33/user/mo paid annually. Teams is $30/user/mo.

Best for: People working on the far screen itself, not closing a support ticket

Pros

  • Warp adds 4:4:4 color, virtual monitors, privacy mode, and Wacom pressure and tilt.
  • Teams adds SAML single sign-on, granular permissions, team computers, and 7 days of audit logs.
  • The pricing page has a monthly price and a lower annual price for Warp and for Teams.

Cons

  • Enterprise is annual only, and guest access for people outside the team is $25 per invitation, so outsiders pay extra.
  • This is not an unattended device console with a managed-computer pool the way TeamViewer or Zoho Assist is, so skip it for a fleet of office PCs.
8 Chrome Remote Desktop logo

Chrome Remote Desktop

No checkout and no plan table, with a support code that expires after a single use.

Pricing
No paid plan. Set up from remotedesktop.google.com with a Google account.

Best for: Your own computer, or a one-off share you can sit and watch

Pros

  • Remote access and screen sharing are set up in Chrome, on Android, or on iOS, with no plan table.
  • Google's help page says sessions are fully encrypted, so that claim comes from Google rather than a sales page.
  • A support code works once, which limits how long a shared code can be reused.

Cons

  • During a shared session the computer's owner is asked to confirm again every 30 minutes, so a quiet help desk cannot leave it running.
  • An administrator can turn the feature off for managed Google accounts, and a work network can block it, so a company can remove the tool.

What it is

Remote desktop software shows you another computer's screen and lets you control it over the internet, for your own machine or for someone else's.

Two jobs get sold as one product, and the price follows the job. Unattended access means the far computer is already set up, so you connect after a reboot with nobody there, which suits a machine you own. Attended support means the other person accepts a session, usually with a code, which is the help-desk job a solo user can skip.

A tool can do both and still price them as separate products, so the cheapest tier may not cover your job. File transfer, a second monitor, and a session recording move you off that tier.

Why it matters

Take three people and 25 office computers, a normal small IT load, and the unit on the invoice decides the year. Zoho Assist unattended Professional is $15 a month billed annually for that pack of 25 computers, $180 a year, and technicians are not extra seats. A single laptop with no fleet should skip this pack.

Splashtop Pro is $99 a user a year, so the same three people are $297 a year, and the plan publishes no computer cap. It fits people with their own machines, and it fails a buyer who needs a device ceiling in writing.

ScreenConnect Standard is $47 a month per concurrent technician billed annually, so three people connected at once are $1,692 a year, with unlimited unattended agents. You pay for overlap rather than every name on the payroll.

TeamViewer Business, at the one-user rate above, is $610.80 a year and stops at one licensed user, even though it covers up to 200 unattended devices. A license that can hold the other two people is Premium, at $120.90 a month billed yearly, $1,450.80 a year, for up to 15 licensed users and 300 managed devices. The jump is the headcount, not the computers, so the second login forces the upgrade.

Our TeamViewer alternatives page is for buyers already leaving that license, while this page is for choosing the first one. The free remote desktop roundup covers tools that charge nothing.

Key features to look for

What the bill multiplies by
Splashtop and Parsec bill a user, so each added person is another seat. Zoho bills a technician for attended support and a pack of 25 computers for unattended access. ScreenConnect bills a concurrent technician, and TeamViewer Business stops at one licensed user.
Unattended devices versus a live session
Unattended access survives a reboot, so the machine can be reached with nobody there. Chrome Remote Desktop asks the sharer to confirm again every 30 minutes, which rules it out when the owner cannot be interrupted.
How many sessions can run at once
ScreenConnect One allows 1 session, so a second technician waits, while Standard allows 3 per technician. Zoho remote support allows 2 concurrent sessions per technician on Standard, 4 on Professional, and 6 on Enterprise.
Who may use the free license
AnyDesk's free license is for personal use, and TeamViewer marks its free license non-commercial, so a business session on either needs a paid license.
Where the server runs
RustDesk's paid plans are for software you host yourself, so uptime and updates sit with your team. ScreenConnect Enterprise and AnyDesk Ultimate offer an on-premises option, and the others in this list are hosted by the vendor.

Pricing

Methodology: prices and plan limits were read on each vendor's own pricing or product page on 18 October 2026. AnyDesk's figures are priced in euros, and TeamViewer Business, Premium, and Corporate are the undiscounted prices on its pricing overview. TeamViewer also advertises a first-year discount on those three licenses. Where a card had no dollar amount, the table says so.

Use the table for the tier you will actually buy. Zoho's unattended line stays on the computer pack, so extra technicians do not raise it. Splashtop Pro and Parsec stay on the user, so every added person is another seat. ScreenConnect Standard stays on technicians connected at the same time. One of them is $564 a year on the annual rate, the cost of overlap rather than the whole roster.

RustDesk Basic is $23.88 a month billed annually for 10 users and 100 devices, $286.56 for the year, on a server you host and keep running. TeamViewer Premium is the first TeamViewer license that seats more than one person, so a second operator cannot stay on the one-user plan.

Mistakes to avoid
×Buying TeamViewer Premium because Business felt small wastes the upgrade. Business already covers 200 unattended devices and fails only when a second person needs a license. Premium is $1,450.80 a year, so count people before you count PCs.
×Putting a business session on a personal license is how a customer call dies on screen. AnyDesk and TeamViewer both restrict commercial use on the free build, which is where that risk sits.
×Paying per user for a fleet, or per computer for a single laptop, swaps the meter. Zoho's unattended plan is the computer pack and Splashtop Pro is the person. A three-person team then either overpays for seats or underbuys the support product.
×Treating ScreenConnect One as the team plan strands everyone after the first session. It is one session and 10 unattended agents, while unlimited agents start on Standard. Monthly Standard is $62 per concurrent technician rather than the annual rate.
×Assuming Chrome Remote Desktop will sit quietly for a help desk fails in the first hour. A support share asks the owner to confirm again every 30 minutes, and a managed Google account can switch the feature off.
Expert tips
→Write the job down before the brand, because your own PC points to Splashtop, Parsec, or Chrome Remote Desktop. Other people's PCs point to Zoho Assist, ScreenConnect, or TeamViewer, and RustDesk is that same job on a server you run.
→For 25 computers and several technicians, price Zoho's unattended pack first. Add remote support only when you also need attended sessions, because the two products are separate lines.
→If two technicians must be in sessions at the same time, ScreenConnect Standard is the license that matches the overlap. TeamViewer Business is a single user, so it cannot cover that overlap.
→Read the renewal rule before the first invoice, or a missed date becomes another year. TeamViewer wants notice at least 28 days before the year ends, and AnyDesk renews unless you say otherwise. RustDesk does not auto-renew, so the same missed date is a lapse instead.

The bottom line

For one person and their own computers, Splashtop Solo is the published rate to beat, and a help desk should look past it. For a shared fleet, Zoho Assist unattended access bills computers and leaves technicians unlimited, which is the wrong shape if you own one laptop. ScreenConnect is the one to open when several technicians are connected at once and you want unlimited unattended agents.

TeamViewer covers a large device pool and charges a one-user price until Premium, so the second login is the expensive moment. AnyDesk is a strong annual license if you can buy in euros and you know how many simultaneous connections you need, because that count does not grow with users.

RustDesk is for a team that will host the server. Parsec is for a session that has to feel like the local screen. Chrome Remote Desktop is the no-checkout option for your own machine.

Security basics for any of these sit next to our password managers for teams and help desk software guides. Phone support is a different bill, covered in business phone systems. A session you send as a video belongs with screen recording tools, and the chat beside it with team chat apps. Moving a file without taking over the screen is file sharing software.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best remote desktop software in 2026?

Splashtop suits one person who needs unattended access to their own computers, and Solo is $6 a month billed annually. Zoho Assist suits several people sharing a fleet, because unattended Standard is billed per pack of 25 computers and technicians are not extra seats. TeamViewer Business is the large device pool at $50.90 a month billed yearly for one licensed user, with prices checked on 18 October 2026.

How much does remote desktop software cost for a small team?

Three people on Splashtop Pro pay $99 a user a year, $297 in total, for people who each have their own computers. The same three on Zoho unattended Professional, for 25 computers, pay $15 a month billed annually, $180 a year, because that product does not charge per technician. Three concurrent ScreenConnect Standard technicians pay $47 a month each on an annual plan. TeamViewer Premium, the license that holds more than one user, is $120.90 a month billed yearly.

Is there a free remote desktop tool I can use at work?

Chrome Remote Desktop has no paid plan, and Google's setup guide does not ask for a subscription, so a company can use it without a vendor account. AnyDesk is free for personal use and requires a paid license for professional use. TeamViewer's product description marks the free license as non-commercial, so a customer session on either one needs a paid license. A longer list of no-charge tools is on our free remote desktop page.

Splashtop or TeamViewer for three people?

Splashtop Pro is $8.25 a user a month billed annually, so three users are a per-person bill for people with their own PCs. TeamViewer Business is one licensed user and up to 200 unattended devices, so the other two people require Premium, at 15 licensed users and 300 managed devices. Pick Splashtop when you have people with their own PCs, and pick TeamViewer when you have a large unattended pool and one licensed operator.

How does AnyDesk price connections?

AnyDesk bills annually, so the published plans have no month-to-month option. Solo is one connection and 100 managed devices at €28.90 a month before the first-year discount. Standard is one connection, up to 20 users, and 500 managed devices, and extra connections are €44.90 each per month billed annually. The 20% discount applies to the first year only, and Ultimate is a quote.

Is Chrome Remote Desktop enough for IT support?

It is enough to reach a computer you already signed into, or to share a screen with someone who can click Share, which is a one-off favor rather than a queue. It is a poor help desk: the support code works once, the owner is asked to confirm the share again every 30 minutes, and an admin can disable it. There is no paid tier that adds a device console.
