The Best TeamViewer Alternatives in 2026

Nine remote desktop tools compared on unattended-device caps and per-seat pricing, the two things that push a TeamViewer buyer to switch, with prices checked on vendor pages in September 2026.

Independently researched. No pay-for-placement. 9 tools compared
TL;DR

AnyDesk Solo covers 100 managed devices for $346.80 a year, well past TeamViewer Remote Access's 3-device cap at $24.90 a month. Splashtop starts at $6 a month per user. Zoho Assist has a real free plan and paid tiers from $10 a technician a month. RustDesk is free if you self-host it yourself.

TeamViewer's licenses are priced around a number nobody sees until checkout: unattended devices. Remote Access stops at three. Business stops at 200 and still runs $50.90 a month. Most of the switching we hear about does not start with a support ticket about the software.

It starts with someone adding a fourth device to the entry plan and getting told to upgrade.

The nine tools below fix that in different ways: a flat device count that goes further per dollar, a genuine free tier, a license you buy once instead of renewing, or a self-hosted build where the device cap does not exist because you run the server.

Best for: Teams that want TeamViewer's speed without TeamViewer's device-count upgrade cliff

PricingFrom $28.90/mo (Solo, billed annually at $346.80/year); Standard $49.90/mo; Advanced $111.90/mo; Ultimate custom.

+Solo's device cap is over 30 times TeamViewer Remote Access's 3-device limit, at a comparable price point
+Standard adds single sign-on and MSI mass deployment for 20 licensed users, features TeamViewer reserves for its top tiers
+A real perpetual-feeling annual license, not a monthly meter that jumps when you add one more machine
−Free only for personal, non-commercial use; every tier on the order page is a paid professional license
−The order flow shows a first-year discount, so budget for the full renewal price the second year

Best for: IT teams that want per-user remote access pricing instead of TeamViewer's per-device pricing

PricingFrom $6/mo (Solo, billed annually at $72/year); Pro $8.25/user/mo; Performance $13/user/mo; no free plan.

+Solo's annual rate undercuts TeamViewer's cheapest monthly tier for a single user with unattended access
+Performance adds 4K streaming and file transfer priority, aimed at creative work rather than basic screen-sharing
+Remote Support (SOS) is billed and sold separately from remote access, so a support desk is not paying for seats it does not use
−No permanent free plan; every product line runs on a trial, then a card
−SOS starts at a per-concurrent-technician rate that climbs fast for a growing support team
Visit Splashtop →

Best for: Small support teams that want a genuine free plan plus separate attended and unattended pricing

PricingFree plan available; Remote Support Standard $10/technician/mo billed annually; Professional $15/mo; Enterprise $24/mo.

+The free plan covers basic ad-hoc support, not a time-limited trial that expires
+Unattended Access is priced and sold separately from Remote Support, so you are not paying attended-session rates for always-on device access
+Professional adds mobile device support and custom branding without jumping to an enterprise-only tier
−Standard's unattended plan caps at a fixed device count before you need Professional
−Session count per technician is capped even on Enterprise, unlike TeamViewer's unlimited concurrent sessions on higher tiers
Visit Zoho Assist →

Best for: MSPs that want a self-hostable remote support tool with an audit trail, not a consumer-style access app

PricingFrom $30/mo (One, billed annually, single license); Standard $45/mo annual ($59 monthly); Premium $55/mo annual.

+On-premises hosting is available on paid tiers, something TeamViewer does not offer to most customers
+Session recording and a full audit trail are standard, not an add-on, which matters for compliance-heavy support desks
+The One plan is a genuine single-license entry point for a solo technician, cheaper than TeamViewer's entry tier
−Monthly billing costs noticeably more per month than the annual rate on both Standard and Premium
−The interface is built for technicians, not end customers; it is a harder sell for a small business owner who just wants remote access
Visit ConnectWise ScreenConnect →

Best for: Technical teams that would rather run their own relay server than pay a per-device fee forever

PricingFree, open source, self-hosted; paid server license from $11.88/mo billed annually for hosted console features.

+The core client and server are free and open source, with no device cap when you run the infrastructure
+Individual and Basic add login users and a managed-device console without forcing a SaaS subscription
+Pricing is explicitly for the self-hosting solution, not a per-endpoint SaaS meter, so cost does not scale with fleet size the way TeamViewer's does
−Self-hosting means you own uptime, security patching and server costs, a real job TeamViewer and AnyDesk do for you
−The vendor is explicit that annual billing is the only option; there is no monthly plan for the paid console

Best for: Solo operators and small shops that want the lowest sticker price in this list and do not need MSP features

PricingFrom $1.95/mo (Solo, billed annually); Pro $6.22/mo; Team $18.72/mo; 7-day free trial, no card required.

+Solo's annual rate is a fraction of TeamViewer Remote Access's monthly price for one user and one computer
+Team scales to 50 computers with unlimited users on one flat annual rate, no per-seat meter
+A 2-year commitment option locks in a lower monthly-equivalent rate for buyers who know they are staying
−Solo's one-computer limit means most buyers land on Pro instead, at a higher published rate
−No session recording or the compliance features ScreenConnect and Zoho Assist build in for support teams

Best for: Anyone who needs near-zero input lag, from remote video editing to cloud gaming, more than device management

PricingFree (Personal); Warp $8.33/mo billed annually ($9.99 monthly); Teams $30/mo annual ($35 monthly); Enterprise $45/mo.

+The free Personal tier already includes low-latency streaming, not a crippled trial of the paid product
+Warp adds multi-monitor support and improved color at a lower monthly rate than TeamViewer Remote Access
+Purpose-built for real-time work like video editing and gaming, where TeamViewer's relay-first design shows more lag
−No unattended-device management console the way AnyDesk or TeamViewer Business provides for IT fleets
−Enterprise is billed annually only, with no monthly option for larger teams

Best for: MSPs already running or evaluating NinjaOne's RMM platform who want remote access bundled in, not a separate bill

PricingNo public list price; sold only inside the NinjaOne platform, quote-only; 14-day free trial available.

+Bundled with patch management, monitoring and scripting, so a support desk is not stitching together separate remote-access and RMM tools
+A 14-day free trial covers the whole platform, not a stripped-down remote-access demo
+Ninja states its published RMM pricing scales down per endpoint at higher device counts, a different model from TeamViewer's flat device tiers
−Publishes no list price for the Remote product itself; every deal goes through a sales quote
−Buying remote access alone is not an option, you take the platform or you look elsewhere
Visit NinjaOne Remote →

Best for: Anyone who wants a working remote-access baseline today, with zero budget and zero setup beyond a Google account

PricingFree, no paid tier; requires a Google account; no published device or seat limit.

+Costs nothing, with no time limit or feature paywall to run into later
+Works inside the Chrome browser or as a standalone app, so there is no separate install for basic access
+Good enough as the free baseline to test against before paying for any tool on this list
−No admin console, device inventory or audit trail, so it is not a fit for a support desk with more than one technician
−No session recording, custom branding or SSO, features every paid tool above includes on at least one tier

What it is

A TeamViewer alternative is remote desktop software that lets you view and control another computer over the internet, whether that is unattended access to your own machines or attended sessions where a customer clicks a link to let a technician in.

The category splits on how it prices that access: per named device (TeamViewer, AnyDesk), per concurrent technician seat (Splashtop, Zoho Assist, ConnectWise ScreenConnect, RemotePC), or self-hosted, where you pay for the server license or nothing at all (RustDesk, Chrome Remote Desktop).

Techpresso data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, ranks 7 tools in its Best Remote Desktop Software guide out of the 1,602 productivity tools it tracks, as of September 2026 (toolradar.com/guides/best-remote-desktop-software). Six of those seven also appear below.

Why it matters

Device caps are the trap that per-seat software does not have. TeamViewer Business caps out at 200 unattended devices for $50.90 a month; go over and the next tier, Premium, is $120.90. An MSP running support for a dozen clients can blow past 200 endpoints before headcount even doubles.

AnyDesk Standard covers 20 licensed users with single sign-on and MSI mass deployment for $598.80 a year, a flat annual number instead of a monthly upgrade cliff.

The second trap is paying for attended support tools you do not need.

Zoho Assist and ConnectWise ScreenConnect both split pricing between attended (ad-hoc customer sessions) and unattended access, so a two-person IT team supporting five clients pays for sessions, not for every device those clients own. Get the split wrong and you are paying enterprise money for a two-person job.

Key features to look for

How the price is metered
Per unattended device, per concurrent technician, or a flat annual license. This decides whether growth costs you money or not.
Attended vs. unattended access
Ad-hoc support sessions (someone clicks a link) versus always-on access to devices you manage. Several tools price these separately.
Free tier or trial, and what it cuts
A real free plan, a time-limited trial, or nothing. Read what the free tier caps: device count, session length, or commercial use.
Self-hosting
RustDesk and, to a point, ConnectWise ScreenConnect let you run the server yourself. That removes the per-device bill and adds an admin job.
Latency and input feel
TeamViewer and AnyDesk both route through relay servers; Parsec is built for sub-16ms input lag, the difference between remote editing and remote gaming.

Pricing

Methodology: every price below was checked on the vendor's own pricing page in September 2026, in USD, with no third-party estimates and no paid placements in this ranking.

TeamViewer's own tiers, checked on teamviewer.com/en-us/pricing in September 2026, are Remote Access at $24.90 a month for 3 unattended devices, Business at $50.90 a month for 200, Premium at $120.90 a month for 300, and Corporate at $245.90 a month for 500, all billed yearly.

Every price above was checked on the vendor's own pricing page in September 2026: AnyDesk on its order pages (order.anydesk.com/product/solo and the standard and advanced product pages), Splashtop, RustDesk, ConnectWise ScreenConnect, RemotePC and Parsec on their own pricing pages, and Zoho Assist on its pricing page after switching the currency selector to USD.

NinjaOne Remote publishes no list price for the standalone product; it is quote-only inside the NinjaOne platform. Chrome Remote Desktop has no pricing page because it has no paid tier.

The cheapest paid entry point that still manages more than a handful of devices is RemotePC Pro; the best free option for real work is Zoho Assist's free plan, not Chrome Remote Desktop's admin-free baseline.

Mistakes to avoid
×Picking a per-device tool like AnyDesk or TeamViewer for a support desk that mostly runs one-off customer sessions. Zoho Assist and ConnectWise ScreenConnect price attended support separately, and that split is usually cheaper for a help desk that is not managing a fixed device fleet.
×Self-hosting RustDesk to save money without budgeting the server, patching and uptime work that replaces the subscription. Free is not free labor.
×Buying NinjaOne for remote access alone. The product is not sold standalone; if you do not need the RMM platform around it, a dedicated tool on this list will be cheaper and faster to set up.
Expert tips
→Count your actual unattended device total before comparing plans. TeamViewer Business's 200-device cap and AnyDesk Solo's 100-device cap at a lower price are the two numbers that decide this for most small IT teams.
→If support is mostly attended (a customer clicks a link once), price Zoho Assist's Remote Support line or Splashtop SOS on their own, not the unattended-access tiers built for device fleets.
→Test Chrome Remote Desktop first if budget is the constraint. It costs nothing and tells you within a day whether you need any of the paid admin features at all.

The bottom line

Leave TeamViewer for AnyDesk if the 200-device ceiling on Business is the actual problem. Solo already covers 100 devices for less than TeamViewer's entry tier costs per year, and Standard adds SSO for a 20-person team.

Leave it for Zoho Assist if you want a genuine free plan and separate attended and unattended pricing that a small support desk will not outgrow quickly.

Choose ConnectWise ScreenConnect if you are an MSP that needs on-premises hosting and a full session audit trail.

Choose RustDesk if you would rather run your own server than pay per device, forever. Parsec is the right call when input lag matters more than device management, and Chrome Remote Desktop is the free baseline to test before paying for anything.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free alternative to TeamViewer?
Zoho Assist, if you want a permanent free plan for basic ad-hoc support rather than a trial that expires. Chrome Remote Desktop is free with no tier at all, but it has no admin console, so it fits solo use better than a support team. RustDesk is free if you are willing to self-host the server yourself.
How much does TeamViewer cost compared to AnyDesk?
TeamViewer Remote Access is $24.90 a month billed yearly for 3 unattended devices, checked on teamviewer.com/en-us/pricing in September 2026. AnyDesk Solo is $346.80 a year (about $28.90 a month) for up to 100 managed devices, checked on AnyDesk's order page the same month. For device-heavy use, AnyDesk covers more machines per dollar; TeamViewer's brand recognition and support network are the trade-off.
Is RustDesk actually free?
The core RustDesk client and server are free and open source with no device cap, as long as you host the server yourself. The paid Individual and Basic tiers, from $11.88 a month billed annually, add a hosted admin console, login users and SSO on top of the free core, not the remote-control feature itself.
Which TeamViewer alternative is best for MSPs?
ConnectWise ScreenConnect, built specifically for managed service providers with session recording, an audit trail and an on-premises hosting option most consumer-style tools do not offer. NinjaOne Remote is the other MSP option, but only bundled inside the wider NinjaOne platform on a quote, not as a standalone purchase.
What is the cheapest TeamViewer alternative?
RemotePC Solo, at $1.95 a month billed annually for one user and one computer, checked on remotepc.com/pricing.htm in September 2026. It is built for individuals and small offices, not MSPs, so it skips the session recording and audit trail that ConnectWise ScreenConnect and Zoho Assist include.
TeamViewer vs Splashtop: which should I pick?
Splashtop if per-user pricing beats TeamViewer's per-device model for your team, starting under TeamViewer Remote Access's monthly rate with a separate SOS line for attended support. TeamViewer if you need the widest cross-platform compatibility and a brand your customers already recognize when a support session starts.
Does any TeamViewer alternative offer sub-16ms latency?
Parsec is built for it, with a free Personal tier already tuned for real-time work like video editing and cloud gaming. TeamViewer and AnyDesk both route sessions through relay servers built for general remote access and IT support, not for latency-sensitive creative or gaming use.
