Google Workspace Pricing 2026: Every Plan, Real Costs and Hidden Fees

Google Workspace Business Starter costs $7 per user a month on the Annual plan in 2026, or $8.40 on the month-to-month Flexible plan. Business Standard is $14 or $16.80, Business Plus is $22 or $26.40, and Enterprise is quote-only. For most small teams, Standard on an annual commitment is the plan to price first, because it is the cheapest tier with Gemini inside Docs, Sheets and Meet.

Those per-user rates were read on 18 October 2026 in Google's payment plan comparison, and the plan contents on the Google Workspace pricing page, which shows US dollars. Voice prices come from the Google Voice page the same day. There is no free business plan: a 14-day trial is the only way to start without paying.

Toolradar data: among the email tools on Toolradar that publish a verified per-user entry price, the median is $13.50 a user a month as of October 2026, so Workspace's annual Starter seat costs about half the going rate. Google Workspace is listed as an alternative to 27 tools in that category, and visitors most often compare it with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams. The record is Google Workspace on Toolradar, with the head-to-head at Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365 on Toolradar.

Google Workspace plans at a glance

Prices as of Oct 2026, verified on vendor pages, per user per month.

Plan Annual plan Flexible plan Storage per user Best for
Business Starter $7 $8.40 30 GB pooled Custom-domain Gmail and basic Meet calls
Business Standard $14 $16.80 2 TB pooled Most teams that work in Docs and Meet daily
Business Plus $22 $26.40 5 TB pooled Teams that need Vault, eDiscovery and 500-person calls
Enterprise Contact sales Contact sales 5 TB, more on request Regulated companies needing DLP and data regions

The three Business plans can be bought for up to 300 users each. Past that, Enterprise is the only route, and it has no minimum or maximum user count.

How much does Google Workspace cost per user?

The Annual plan is the cheaper rate on every tier, and the gap is fixed. Flexible costs 20% more per seat: $8.40 against $7 on Starter, with the same ratio on Standard and Plus. Google's own yearly totals per user are $84, $168 and $264 on Annual, against $100.80, $201.60 and $316.80 on Flexible.

The price of that discount is the contract. On Annual you commit to a set number of licenses for at least a year, you can add licenses at any time, and you can only reduce them when the contract renews. Cancel early and Google charges the remaining balance with no refund. Flexible bills each user monthly, lets you remove accounts at any time, and cancels without penalty.

A simple test settles which plan fits a seat. Ten months of Flexible on Starter costs the same as a full year on Annual, and the same holds on Standard and Plus. A seat you need for fewer than ten months of the year is cheaper on Flexible, and a permanent seat is cheaper on Annual.

What a 10-person team pays in a year

The scenario: ten users on one plan for twelve months, before tax and before add-ons. Each figure multiplies Google's per-user yearly total by ten.

Plan Annual plan, 10 users Flexible plan, 10 users Extra cost of Flexible
Business Starter $840 $1,008 $168
Business Standard $1,680 $2,016 $336
Business Plus $2,640 $3,168 $528

The step from Starter to Standard is the decision that moves the most money. On Annual it adds $840 a year for ten people, and buys 2 TB of pooled storage per user instead of 30 GB, meeting recordings saved to Drive, appointment booking pages and eSignature in Docs and PDFs.

Teams that sign contracts often can compare that built-in eSignature with the dedicated tools in the best e-signature software ranking.

Standard to Plus adds another $960 a year for the same team. That money buys compliance tools (Vault for retention and search, eDiscovery, secure LDAP and advanced endpoint management) rather than features most staff will see. A ten-person team without a legal hold requirement rarely needs it.

Which features each plan adds

Starter covers business email on your own domain, Meet calls of up to 100 participants, Chat, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms and Sites. It includes the Gemini assistant in Gmail, basic access to the Gemini app, and Google Vids. Gemini inside Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet and Chat is not part of Starter.

Standard is where the AI features land. It adds Gemini across Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet and Chat, expanded access to the Gemini app and Google's more capable models, and Gemini Notebook with up to 20 Audio Overviews a day, against 3 on Starter. Meet goes to 150 participants with recording, noise cancellation and Adaptive Audio.

Plus raises Meet to 500 participants with attendance tracking and pools 5 TB per user. It is the first tier with Vault and eDiscovery, which is why it is priced for compliance work rather than collaboration.

Enterprise adds S/MIME encryption, data loss prevention, context-aware access, enterprise data regions, Cloud Identity Premium and 1,000-person in-domain live streaming. Google publishes no price for it, so expect a sales conversation and a contract.

Every tier, Starter included, gets 24-hour Meet calls, AppSheet, Workspace Studio for AI agents, 2-step verification and the Advanced Protection Program. Those shared basics mean Starter is not a stripped-down trial; it is a real email and calendar suite without the AI inside the documents.

Hidden costs beyond the plan

The subscription is the predictable part. These are the lines that change a Workspace bill after signup:

  • Google Voice. Business phone numbers are a separate add-on: Starter at $10 a user a month for up to 10 users, Standard at $20 with unlimited users and auto attendants, and Premier at $30. Ten users on Voice Starter add $1,200 a year, more than the $840 Workspace Starter bill itself.
  • Locked licenses on Annual. A license bought on Annual is paid until renewal even if the person leaves in month two. The cost is not a fee but it behaves like one for a team with turnover.
  • Introductory pricing ends. Google's pricing page shows a discounted introductory rate for new customers that applies only to the first 20 users and only for 12 months. Budget year two at the standard rate, not the promotional one.
  • The 300-user ceiling. A company that grows past 300 users on a Business plan has to move to Enterprise, which has no public price.
  • Support upgrades. Enhanced and Premium Support are paid upgrades available on Enterprise plans.
  • Storage is pooled, not unlimited. Each plan's storage is pooled across the organization, so one heavy video team can use the allowance of several light users. Plus and Enterprise give 5 TB per user; Enterprise can request more.

For teams comparing call tools before adding Voice, the business phone system pricing comparison lays out the rival per-user prices.

Is there a free Google Workspace plan or trial?

No free business plan exists. Google offers a 14-day trial of Workspace, and new customers see a time-limited introductory discount on the pricing page. During a trial you can switch from Annual to Flexible, which is the safest way to start if headcount is still moving.

A personal Gmail account stays free, but it has no custom domain and no admin controls. If the business only needs one address, a cheaper standalone mailbox may do the job; the Zoho Mail review covers that route.

Which Google Workspace plan should you choose?

Choose Starter if your team mainly needs email on its own domain, shared calendars and video calls, and nobody stores large files. It is the cheapest way to replace personal Gmail addresses, at $84 a user a year on Annual.

Choose Standard if your team writes and meets inside Workspace every day. It is the cheapest plan with Gemini inside the documents and meeting recordings, and its 2 TB pool removes storage as a daily worry. Most teams of 5 to 50 should start here.

Choose Plus only for a named compliance reason: legal holds, eDiscovery or audits that need Vault. Its premium over Standard is the price of those tools.

Choose Enterprise if you need data regions, DLP or more than 300 users, and plan for a negotiated contract.

If you are still deciding between suites, the Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365 comparison covers the rival plans, and Microsoft 365 Copilot pricing prices Microsoft's AI tier. How we built this page

We read Google's payment plan comparison for the per-user Flexible and Annual rates and the yearly totals, the Workspace pricing page for each plan's features, storage, Meet limits, the 300-user ceiling and the introductory offer terms, and the Google Voice page for the add-on prices. All were read on 18 October 2026, in US dollars.

The 10-user table multiplies Google's printed per-user yearly totals by ten and excludes tax, Voice and any introductory discount. The ten-month break-even divides the Annual yearly total by the Flexible monthly rate. The verdicts rest on Google's published prices and plan contents, not on hands-on use, and the Toolradar figures come from Toolradar's own catalog and site activity.

Is Google Workspace Business Standard worth it over Starter?

For most teams, yes. Standard adds Gemini inside Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet and Chat, 2 TB of pooled storage per user instead of 30 GB, meeting recordings and eSignature. On the Annual plan, the upgrade costs $84 more per user a year.

Does Google Workspace include Gemini?

Every paid plan includes some Gemini. Starter has the Gemini assistant in Gmail and basic access to the Gemini app. Standard, Plus and Enterprise add Gemini inside Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet and Chat, plus expanded access to Google's more capable models.

Is there a free version of Google Workspace?

No. Google offers a 14-day trial and a time-limited introductory discount for new customers, limited to the first 20 users for 12 months. Personal Gmail is free but has no custom domain or admin console.
