Stoke Space raises $1B Series E for larger Nova rocket

Stoke Space just closed the first slice of a $1 billion Series E, taking the Kent, Washington rocket company's total haul to $2.3 billion. The 8 September company newsroom post says Point72 Ventures and Spark Capital co-led the round.

General Innovation, Glade Brook Capital, US Innovation Technology, Washington Harbour Partners, Woven Capital, Y Combinator, and other new and existing investors participated. CEO Andy Lapsa said the money funds scale in production, flight frequency, and the second-generation vehicle.

Nova Pathfinder is targeted for a first orbital launch in early 2027. The larger Nova Block 2, already under development, is specified at 15 metric tons to low Earth orbit in a 5-meter payload fairing, with a first launch targeted for 2029. Those are company targets, not flown milestones.

Stoke's release does not state a post-money valuation. Reuters attributed a roughly $10 billion valuation to a person familiar with the matter, a figure the company has not confirmed. TechCrunch reported the same initial-close language and said Pathfinder is designed for about 3 metric tons to low Earth orbit.
