Roblox to let creators ship games outside the Roblox app

At RDC 2026, CEO David Baszucki's newsroom post said Roblox Everywhere will let creators ship standalone apps on mobile, PC, and consoles. Chrome web play is targeted by end of 2026. Build's New Zealand alpha published about 9,000 games, and 71% of those creators had never used Studio.

Roblox founder and CEO David Baszucki, in an 11 September 2026 newsroom post from the Roblox Developers Conference, said creators will soon be able to ship games as standalone apps on mobile, PC, and consoles, with Roblox powering the technology and services underneath. The program is called Roblox Everywhere.

This is a company newsroom CEO post laying out RDC 2026 product roadmap items. It is not a quarterly earnings release, and it is not a live store listing for every creator today.

Standalone apps are framed as coming soon. Web play has a clearer date: by the end of 2026, players will be able to join a game in Chrome from the Experience Details Page with no app install, with more browsers later. Links from search, YouTube, X, or email are the intended entry points. Roblox's footnote says availability and features will vary by age and region.

Offline solo play is a mid-2027 target, with early access sooner. Creators will be able to turn offline on alongside live multiplayer. That is a target, not a ship date for the whole catalog.

Build, the prompt-to-game tab in the Roblox app, is the piece already live in a limited alpha. Since the New Zealand launch, creators have published about 9,000 Build games, and 71% of Build creators had never used Roblox Studio (Roblox's figures through 1 September 2026). The public alpha is now expanding to Serbia and Singapore, and it adds an asset library, desktop access, and iterative control.

TechCrunch treated the same RDC session as an AI-creation and distribution wrap. Colour around the business: last quarter players spent 29 billion hours, and creators earned about $1.7 billion in the 12 months through 30 June 2026. Wallet rolls out later this year to eligible U.S. creators 18 and older. Roblox Card is planned for 2027.

Chrome-first web play sits next to Chrome's two-week release cycle. Prompt-to-game tools also sit next to other model and agent notes, including Cognition's $2 billion Series E, ChatGPT Finance at Morgan Stanley, and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash.

If you build on Roblox, treat Everywhere and Chrome web play as a 2026 roadmap, not as a ship-today switch. Use the New Zealand Build numbers (about 9,000 published games, 71% new to Studio) to decide whether to try the Serbia or Singapore alpha, and plan offline mode for the mid-2027 window.
