OpenAI launches ChatGPT for Finance with Morgan Stanley
OpenAI's 10 September product post introduces ChatGPT for Financial Services, a ChatGPT Work experience for eligible institutions, shaped with Morgan Stanley and Evercore and powered by GPT-6 Astra. OpenAI indexes and hosts built-in Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase data. No public list price.

OpenAI published a product post on 10 September 2026 introducing ChatGPT for Financial Services, also called ChatGPT for Finance. It is a ChatGPT Work experience tailored for eligible financial institutions. It is not a new model release, and it is not a public consumer App Store drop.
The offering was shaped by a design partnership with Morgan Stanley and Evercore. OpenAI says the early focus is investment banking and equity research, where those firms flagged reliable data access and high-quality artifact creation as the main pain points.
The workspace runs on GPT-6 Astra. Built-in premium data from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase is indexed and hosted by OpenAI, so outputs can carry granular citations back to those sources.
Fortune (Emily Forlini, 10 September 2026) reported that firms can also connect existing subscriptions such as Bloomberg or FactSet. Outputs include research, models, pitch materials, Excel, PowerPoint, and simple web dashboards. Access and data connections are centrally managed under ChatGPT enterprise security and governance.
Nick Turley, OpenAI's vice president and head of ChatGPT, told Fortune this is "the canonical product we are hoping the industry adopts" for large banks. OpenAI's post frames the product as a tailored ChatGPT Work experience. Turley told Fortune it is a distinct offering from ChatGPT Work, even if many features derive from it.
Sample slides in the Fortune briefing took about 10 minutes. Users can pick high, medium, or low effort, which trades output quality for token cost. Banks need a ChatGPT Enterprise account, and only eligible institutions that clear sales with OpenAI get in.
There is no public list price, and OpenAI has not published a roster of who qualifies. Design partners are not the same as named paying bank customers. Anthropic has offered Claude for financial analysis since July 2025.
Related OpenAI tape includes the Astra Pro sign-up pause, GPT-6 Astra's ARC-AGI harness scores, ChatGPT Ads at a $1 billion run rate, and the Seattle Times and Newsday complaint.
If you run investment banking or equity research on a ChatGPT Enterprise seat, ask OpenAI sales this week whether your firm is an eligible institution, and decide whether to standardize on this workspace or keep Claude for financial analysis plus your existing terminals. Do not staff a budget line that assumes a published price.
