Microsoft 365 Copilot Cost 2026: Per-User Price for Small Teams

Microsoft 365 Copilot is priced at $18 to $32 per user a month on yearly billing. Compare the Copilot Business add-on with the Business Standard and Premium bundles.

Microsoft 365 Copilot Cost 2026: Per-User Price for Small Teams

For a small team, Microsoft 365 Copilot is priced at $18 to $32 per user a month on yearly billing. The lowest paid Copilot price on Microsoft's page is the Copilot Business add-on at $18, but it only sells on top of a Business plan. If you need Copilot and have no Business plan yet, the bundles at $23.50 (Business Standard with Copilot) and $32 (Business Premium with Copilot) are the simpler buy.

Every price here is per user per month, in US dollars, and comes from Microsoft's Copilot pricing page and its enterprise pricing page, both read on 10 October 2026. Toolradar data: we track 227 reviews of Microsoft Copilot as of 10 October 2026. Reviews say whether people like the product. They do not say what the invoice will be, so the rest of this guide works the arithmetic on Microsoft's prices.

Two choices move the bill more than the list price does: whether you pay yearly or monthly, and whether your team already holds a Business license. The sections below cover both, then cost a ten-person team.

What Microsoft charges for Copilot today

Option Who it suits Yearly, per user a month Monthly, per user a month Limits and rules
Copilot Business add-on Teams that already pay for a Business plan $18.00 (promo; $21.00 original) $25.20 Up to 300 users; needs a qualifying Business plan
Business Standard with Copilot Teams that want Copilot in one price across the Office apps $23.50 $28.20 Up to 300 users; 1 TB storage per user
Business Premium with Copilot Teams that also need identity, access and threat protection $32.00 $38.40 Up to 300 users; 1 TB storage per user
Microsoft 365 Copilot enterprise add-on Larger organizations on enterprise licensing $30.00 Not shown Needs a qualifying base license; seat limit not shown
Copilot Chat Anyone with an eligible plan $0 $0 Included at no additional cost with eligible plans

Every add-on and bundle on Microsoft's page auto-renews, and the bundles cost 20% more on monthly billing, at $28.20 and $38.40 per user a month. The add-on costs 40% more monthly at the promo rate ($25.20 a month), although Microsoft labels only the yearly price as promotional. The enterprise add-on is sold yearly, and the page shows no monthly price for it.

What the per-user price buys differs by option. Business Standard with Copilot brings Copilot into the Office apps, AI chat over work data, 1 TB of storage per user, Teams, custom business email, spam and malware filtering, and phone and web support. Business Premium with Copilot adds advanced identity and access management, enhanced threat protection, and data discovery and protection. The add-on lists Copilot in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams, a reasoning AI, three pre-built agents (Researcher, Analyst and Facilitator), usage analytics, and a choice of AI model. The add-on's own feature list does not mention storage or mail.

What ten users cost in a year

A ten-person team turns a per-seat price into a budget line. The arithmetic is per-user price × 10 users × 12 months, so Business Standard with Copilot on yearly billing comes to $23.50 × 10 × 12 = $2,820.

Option Billing Per user a month Ten users, one year
Copilot Business add-on (promo) Yearly $18.00 $2,160
Copilot Business add-on (original price) Yearly $21.00 $2,520
Copilot Business add-on Monthly $25.20 $3,024
Business Standard with Copilot Yearly $23.50 $2,820
Business Standard with Copilot Monthly $28.20 $3,384
Business Premium with Copilot Yearly $32.00 $3,840
Business Premium with Copilot Monthly $38.40 $4,608
Enterprise add-on Yearly $30.00 $3,600

The add-on rows exclude the base Business plan the add-on needs underneath. Across all rows, the totals run from $2,160 to $4,608 a year, and the lowest of them still needs a base plan. Monthly billing on the promo add-on costs $7.20 more per user a month, which is $864 a year for ten users. That gap is the price of not committing for twelve months.

When the add-on is not the cheaper option

The add-on is not a plan you can buy by itself. Microsoft's page says it requires a separate license for a qualifying Microsoft 365 Business plan, and it is sold for up to 300 users. Your real bill is the base plan price plus the add-on. That total beats a bundle only when the base plan is cheap enough to fit under the bundle's price.

Using only the Copilot prices above, the break-even points are:

  • Against Business Standard with Copilot ($23.50): the add-on wins only if your base plan costs less than $5.50 per user a month at the promo price, or less than $2.50 at the original $21.
  • Against Business Premium with Copilot ($32): the add-on wins only if the base plan costs less than $14 at the promo price, or less than $11 at the original $21.

Look up your base plan on Microsoft's Business plans page, then add the add-on price to it. The break-even compares price only. The add-on path and a bundle do not always carry the same security and admin features, so check the feature lists before you choose. Budget for the $21 original price from the second year, because the promo covers only the first.

The promotion, read carefully

Microsoft's page sets the conditions for the promo price, and they are narrower than the headline suggests:

  • The discount is offered between 1 July and 31 December 2026.
  • It applies to the first year only and needs an annual commitment.
  • Only existing Microsoft 365 customers with an eligible Business plan qualify. Trial subscriptions do not, and the offer cannot be combined with other offers.
  • You get a 7-day window to cancel for a prorated refund.

Confirm the promo price at checkout before you budget for it. Microsoft shows $21 as the original price the discount is measured against, which is the number to plan with from year two.

Copilot Chat is free to try

Copilot Chat is a web-grounded AI assistant that Microsoft says comes at no additional cost with eligible Microsoft 365 plans. Anyone on one of those plans can use it by signing in with a work account, without buying a Copilot license. The paid options add Copilot inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, and that is what the per-user price buys.

Microsoft's plan pages also offer a one-month free trial. A credit card is required, and the subscription converts to a paid plan unless you cancel during the trial. If you still need the Office apps themselves rather than Copilot, see how to get Microsoft Office for free. Which option fits which team

  • Under 300 users and already on a Business plan: the add-on is the lowest paid Copilot price on the page, and it beats the bundles when your base plan falls under the break-even above. Buying on yearly billing before 31 December 2026 gets the promo.
  • No Business plan yet: a bundle is one price and one bill. Business Standard with Copilot suits teams that want Copilot across the Office apps. Business Premium with Copilot suits teams that also want the identity, access and threat protection listed on the page.
  • Only a chat assistant: Copilot Chat costs nothing on an eligible plan.
  • More than 300 users: the Copilot Business add-on is sold for up to 300 users, so compare the enterprise add-on at $30 per user a month on yearly billing, plus the base license Microsoft requires. Microsoft's enterprise page does not show a seat limit.

Gotchas that change the total

  • Monthly billing: the bundles cost 20% more monthly, and the promo add-on costs 40% more.
  • The base plan: the add-on figure alone is never a team's whole bill.
  • The promo clock: the window closes on 31 December 2026, and the discount covers only the first year.
  • Auto-renewal: every price on the page renews automatically, so set a reminder before year two.
  • The enterprise add-on: Microsoft shows no monthly price for it, so budget for it on a yearly basis.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Microsoft 365 Copilot cost per user?

On yearly billing, Microsoft lists $18 per user a month for the Copilot Business add-on during the promotion ($21 originally), and the two bundles with Copilot cost more than the add-on. Monthly billing is $25.20 for the add-on, and $28.20 and $38.40 for the bundles. The add-on sits on a Business plan, so its price is never the whole bill.

Is Microsoft 365 Copilot free?

Copilot Chat costs nothing extra on eligible Microsoft 365 plans, and anyone on one can use it with a work account. The in-app Copilot inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams is paid, through the two bundles, the Business add-on or the enterprise add-on.

How long is the Microsoft 365 Copilot free trial?

Microsoft's plan pages offer a one-month free trial. A credit card is required, and the subscription becomes paid unless you cancel before the trial ends.

Does the Copilot Business discount last?

The promo price is offered between 1 July and 31 December 2026. It covers the first year only, needs an annual commitment, and is open to existing Microsoft 365 customers with an eligible Business plan. Budget for the $21 original price from year two.

Do I need a Business plan to buy Copilot Business?

Yes. Microsoft says the add-on requires a separate license for a qualifying Microsoft 365 Business plan, and it is sold for up to 300 users.

What is the cheapest Copilot option for ten people?

On Microsoft's page, the lowest paid per-user price is the Copilot Business add-on at $18 on yearly billing during the promotion. For ten users that is $2,160 a year before the base plan. Business Standard with Copilot costs $2,820 a year and includes the base plan. The add-on wins only if your base plan costs less than $5.50 per user a month at the promo price.

How we checked the prices

We read Microsoft's Copilot pricing page and its enterprise pricing page on 10 October 2026, and quote the US prices and billing terms they show. Totals are our arithmetic: per-user price × users × 12 months. Where a third-party guide gave a different promo end date or a bundle price that Microsoft's page does not show, we followed Microsoft. Business plans without Copilot are listed on Microsoft's Business plans page, which this guide points to rather than quotes. Microsoft changes prices and promotions, so check its pages at checkout.
